The community activist has enlisted the help of Glenn Jacobsen of Jacobsen Landscape, who will be providing his professional expertise to “Project Playground” The fenced-off playground was constructed by a team of benefactors in 1996 with high quality equipment following well thought-out plans, according to Sullivan. It was abandoned after St. Thomas More School closed in 2006. “Its design provided a safe environment for children as well as a pleasant respite for their guardians. Sadly, it has become overgrown and in its present state, it is not able to be utilized,” Sullivan said. “We want to bring back this area Betty Sullivan spearheads `Project Playground’ Left: The original dedication plaque. The school building is now occupied by the Children’s Therapy Center, whose students need adaptive equipment and cannot use the playground. This Saturday, a crew of volunteer workers from Jacobsen Landscape will bring in a bobcat to clean up the four-foot overgrowth and then spread a 4-inch covering of playground mulch. They hope to finish the job on that day. The Mom’s Club of Nativity will be furnishing fortifying food for the volunteers throughout the day, according to Sullivan, who has enlisted the group’s full support as well. Sullivan said that once the ground is cleared, a volunteer crew will be needed to freshen up the wooden support posts and benches with a stain or oil, pointing out that this endeavor would also be perfect for an Eagle Scout Project. She said funds are also needed not only to successfully bring this project to fruition but also to maintain it for everyone’s enjoyment in the future. Anyone able to help in either of these ways is asked to contact Sullivan at 201788-5355. “Reducing your hot water heater’s temperature from 140 to 120 degrees will save about $75 a year”. 27 Franklin Tpk, Waldwick Open Sundays 9-3 201-652-5666 Academic Excellence Program for K -12 In Home MATH • READING • WRITING Test Prep: SAT I / II Bergen County Academies PERSONAL TRAINING • Flexible Scheduling • Nutrition Guidance • Sports Specific Training • Men, Women, Children & Couples With Brad JEI Learning Center of Waldwick (Michael Academy) Lose 20 lbs in 10 Weeks Insured Degreed & Certified 4 North St. Suite 500 • Waldwick, NJ 07463 201.493.9982 For Free Consultation call: TONE UP/LOSE FAT/ FEEL GREAT 201-925-0381 9-29-10 mike/janine JEIAcademy2x2(9-29-10) 2 x 2” Rev1 KEANE FIT & WELLNESS Sheila Keane All Day Saturday, October 30th Rain or Shine Halloween Photos & Prizes This Halloween in Wyckoff, have your picture taken for FREE in your costume (photos will be emailed to you) and get special surprises compliments of the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce. • EDUCATED - MA in exercise science • CERTIFIED - ACSM, NASM, Post Rehab Specialist, MAT Specialist • EXPERIENCED - 15 years one-to-one personal training New Sat., Oct. 30th, 10am-3pm tion! at the Wyckoff Plaza on Wyckoff Avenue Loca 201-341-0183 • CALL NOW Fitness, Weight Loss, Bariatrics, Geriatrics & Parkinson’s Programs
