Wyckoff October 13, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 3 Madigan named to seat on township committee by John Koster Thomas Madigan has been appointed to the Wyckoff Township Committee and will take his oath of office at the next public meeting. Madigan will replace David Connolly, who recently resigned. “It’s a challenge, but I’m rolling up my sleeves,” Madigan said as he was named as the new member of the five-person governing body. “As Republicans, our foundation comes from believing in core principles including limited government, fiscal restraint, a community of individuals, building character, and embracing strong family values.” The Wyckoff Republican County Committee met on Sept. 27 to interview candidates for the vacant seat and had winnowed the candidates down to three finalists. The Wyckoff Township Committee made the final choice, and welcomed Madigan warmly, but informally, at last week’s public meeting. Mayor Rudy Boonstra and Township Committeemen Christopher De Phillips and Kevin Rooney voted to accept Madigan. Township Committeeman Brian Scanlan, the governing body’s sole Democrat, was not present. Madigan and his wife Mary have lived in Wyckoff for 27 years and have had seven children. He served on the Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education for 12 years, and has been a supporter for Ramapo High School Music Parents and Boosters. He has hosted four children for life-saving surgical procedures under the auspices of the Wyckoff/Midland Park Rotary Club’s “Gift of Life” program, and he and his wife have received the Rotary’s Gift of Life Humanitarian Award. Madigan has coached baseball, softball, soccer, and basketball with the Wyckoff Recreation Program, and cur- rently serves on the Wyckoff Parks and Recreation Board. At Saint Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church, he has actively supported Saint Martin’s Soup Kitchen and other programs to feed the hungry and shelter the homeless. Neighbors to organize October 26 On Oct. 26, the neighbors who wish to save Wyckoff’s Rambault Lake will hold an organizational meeting at Wyckoff Town Hall. Neighbors who wish to join will formally affiliate and pledge their personal financial support to reconstruct a dam otherwise threatened with demolition. The majority of the neighbors said they would donate money voluntarily after the Wyckoff Township Committee -- with the understanding of many of the neighbors -- declined to pass the costs along to the entire township’s taxpayers.     Second Hand Treasures ACKERMAN’S BK BOOKKEEPING & PAYROLL SERVICE, LLC Music Center  QUICKBOOKS PRO SPECIALISTS Servicing All Small Businesses Phone: 973-423-0303 Fax: 973-423-3131 bkbookpay@optonline.net Annmarie Breeman • Nancy Kough  FALL FESTIVITIES at 7-21-10 janine\ SecondHandTreasures2x2(7-21-10) 2 x 2” • One Hay Bale 9-8-10 • One Corn Stalk • One 9” Mum AckermanMusicBTS2x2 in a Basket • Pumpkin Ester... from NancyOnevalue) ($10 • One Sugar Rev: Janine Pumpkin • One Gourd FALL DECORATING KIT 30%Off All Trees & Shrubs FRESH STOCK!
