Mary’s Intense Training ary Cerami, the owner of Mary’s Intense Training, has a passion for fitness that started at a young age. Mary was about 12 when her uncle called her Crisco (fat in a can). It was then that Mary realized that she did not have enough activity in her life. At that point, she joined sports such as basketball, track, and swimming. At the age of 17, she attained her first national Aerobic Certification. This path led Mary to Kean University, where she obtained her Exercise Science Degree. After college, Mary worked as the Director of Wellness for Samsung International. When Mary got married 11 years ago, she moved to Wyckoff and started her Personal Training Company. Through the years, Mary has been the director of various local fitness departments and has obtained 11 National Specialty Certifications such as Personal Training, Kick Boxing, Medical Exercise SpecialMary Cerami ist, and Internet Fitness Training. When Mary had her children Patrick, now 9, and Anna, now 6, her personal fitness regimen had to become more efficient to meet the needs of her family. Her passion for this whole body training escalated into Mary’s Intense Training -- smart classes designed to give you a whole body workout in an efficient amount of time. MIT offers small group training so all participants receive personal attention so they can reach their goals. “It is like sharing the cost of a personal trainer,” Mary says. “I feel participants motivate each other.” The MIT class schedule is balanced and diverse to avoid boredom and challenge everyBODY. Classes are held at 799 Franklin Avenue and cost $15 per class with a monthly commitment. For more information, contact Mary at (201) 739-05763 or at cerami.mary@yahoo.com. M eghan Burbank has come full circle in her career goals as an engineer since joining LAN Associates, EPAS, Inc. two years ago. Interested in the environment since she was in grade school, she now holds LEED accreditation through the U.S. Green Building Council and is pursuing state certification in wetlands delineation. Likewise, she loved teaching and interacting with students as a teacher’s assistant while in college, and now she is mentoring high school students through the ACE (Architects, Construction, Engineering) Mentor Program. “I have been given every Meghan Burbank opportunity to pursue the things I have always wanted to accomplish, aspects of my life and career that I am passionate about,” she said of LAN. “It’s a great company. They want you to be the best you can be. Everyone is supportive.” After receiving her BS degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Central Florida, she worked for 10 years as a solid waste engineer. A civil engineer at LAN, she appreciates the camaraderie in a mid-size company and the opportunity to have an active role in a variety of projects. She feels at home both in the office and out in the field, and seeing the designs completed on paper come to life. At LAN, she performs site development and facility design for residential, school, athletic field, industrial, and commercial clients, including the storm water drainage analysis and environmental permitting necessary for these projects. She also performs cost analysis and quality control/construction administration for various projects. The firm’s engineering department offers a wide range of engineering services, including engineering feasibility analysis, zoning analysis, site engineering, soil movement calculations, utility engineering, septic design, retaining wall design, trail improvements, natural and artificial turf field designs, and environmental permitting including storm water pollution prevention plans, wetlands and stream encroachment studies. Based in Midland Park, LAN is celebrating 45 years of design and project excellence this year. It is one of the largest full-service engineering and architectural firms in northern NJ serving clients throughout the United States and Canada.
