Referees sought The Midland Park Soccer Association needs referees for its Saturday and Sunday games. Anyone interested may email Heather at lightbodymp@aol.com. Trunk-N-Treat slated Faith Reformed Church, 95 Prospect Street in Midland Park, will host its Annual Trunk-N-Treat event Oct. 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. Candy and treats will be handed out from decorated cars and trucks in the parking lot. Woyce to discuss Hudson’s lighthouses Kevin Woyce will present “Hudson River Lighthouses” on Oct. 25. The program will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Midland Park Library, 250 Godwin Avenue. Woyce brings local history to life with a digital slide show including original photography and vintage images. He will describe the lighthouses that graced the Hudson River, explore the lives of the lighthouse keepers, and explain how seven lighthouses were saved as historic landmarks. For more information, call (201) 444-2390. MPFD to host Open House The Midland Park Volunteer Firefighters will host an Open House on Wednesday, Oct. 6 for Fire Prevention Week 2010. The National Fire Protection Association’s designated theme for 2010 is “Smoke Alarms: A Sound You Can Live With!” The Open House is for school children and their families. The MPFD will have educational activities and fire truck rides from 7 to 9 p.m. at fire headquarters, 45 Witte Drive. Seniors invited to Barn Dance The Northwest Bergen Senior Activity Center in Midland Park will host a Barn Dance on Wednesday, Oct. 13 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Northwest Bergen Senior Activity Center. All area seniors age 60 and up are welcome to attend. At this Harvest Square Dance, seniors may enjoy lunch followed by a square dance demonstration performed by the Belles and Beaux Square Dance Troupe. The square dancers will then help everyone learn the dances and have an old-fashioned good time. Lunch and refreshments will be served. The cost is $4 per person. Students of the Children’s Therapy Center enjoy the riding airplane donated by Ridgewood philanthropist David Bolger. The center, a state-certified not-for-profit private institution for children with multiple disabilities, operates campuses in Midland Park and Fair Lawn. Bolger previously contributed other handicapped-accessible playground equipment to the program.

Midland Park Library on Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. CAA, Dr. Fischer, and Susan Weinrich will provide information about making the best nutritional choices for your pets.
