Newcomers plan Wine Tasting The Wyckoff Newcomers and Neighbors will host a Couples’ Wine Tasting on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Abbey at the Ramsey Country Club. La Leche League expands meetings La Leche League of Wyckoff provides women interested in breastfeeding with information and mother to mother (and mother-to-be) support. Discussion topics include how to avoid breastfeeding difficulties, continued breastfeeding, weaning, nutrition, and more. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. Babies and toddlers are always welcome. There are additional meetings to address toddler issues, parenting and nutrition. Hogarth to address Chamber The Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce will host guest speaker Richard Hogarth of Group Strategies on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 8 a.m. Hogarth will discuss the rising costs of health care and how businesses are affected. Operation Chill Chaser underway Wyckoff Girl Scout Troop 328 is once again organizing Operation Chill Chaser, the troop’s annual Coat Drive. All coats collected will be delivered to Saint John the Baptist Church in Paterson, where people in need will be invited to come and choose a coat. Coats will be collected during the month of November at the Wyckoff YMCA, 691 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. Boxes will be located at the front and back entrances. Christmas Huis planned at CHCC The de Snoep Winkel Gift Shop and Tea Room at the Christian Health Care Center will hold its annual Christmas Huis celebration from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov 12 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13. There will be a special sale on Christmas ornaments, gifts, jewelry, candles, and Delft. Stroll through the shop and enjoy the music, scents, and sounds of Christmas and enjoy a cup of hot mulled cider. Distinguished Speaker series resumes Temple Beth Rishon’s third annual Food for Thought Distinguished Speaker Series, sponsored by the Fred Emert Memorial Adult Education Fund, will return Sunday, Nov. 14 at 9:45 a.m. at the temple. This first program in the series will feature Dr. Eitan Fishbane, professor of Jewish Thought at the Jewish Theological Seminary. Dr. Fishbane, one of the outstanding scholars of Kabbalah, Jewish mysticism, from medieval Kabbalah to modern Hasidism, will discuss “Mystical Theology: Ideas of God in the Kabbalah.” He was recently awarded the prestigious Charles A. Ryskamp Fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies. The program cost is $12 for temple members and $18 for non-members, and includes a breakfast buffet.
