Holiday Boutique set The Community Thrift Shop, located on the lower level of the Midland Park Shopping Center, will start its Holiday Boutique on Nov. 17. After Dec. 1, the shop will receive holiday items only. Regular store hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Receiving only is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays. The first Saturday of each month is for receiving and shopping. Fifty-two organizations benefit from the shop’s sales, including are churches of all denominations and other businesses. Seniors invited to Medicare seminar Sheila Brogan, eldercare coordinator for Children’s Aid and Family Services, will discuss the Medicare Part D prescription program for 2011 at the Northwest Senior Center 46-50 Center Street in Midland Park on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. Seniors will learn about the 2011 plan costs and how to evaluate prescription plans. Seniors will need to decide whether to continue with their current plan if it is available in 2011 or to enroll in a new plan during the open enrollment period between Nov. 15 and Dec. 31. Alliance hosts parenting program The Midland Park Alliance will host the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s 15-Minute Child Break program on Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. at the Midland Park High School auditorium. The 15-Minute Child Break is a one-hour multi-media presentation that provides information on the importance of the parent or caregiver’s role in substance abuse prevention. Discussions will include how to talk to children about drugs, signs of use and abuse, and current terminology and trends. Referees sought Midland Park Basketball Association is seeking high school students and adults with solid knowledge of basketball to referee for the Midland Park Recreational Basketball program. Softball Association to meet The Midland Park Softball Association will meet on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Midland Park Library, 250 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Church sets concert The Midland Park United Methodist Church at 269 Godwin Avenue will host the New Music Concert Series with an evening of blues, jazz, and gospel on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. The JP Band, a four-piece jazz band, and a duo featuring pianist Eunice Park and violinist Heijin Kim, will perform. All are classically trained, award-winning musicians. The evening will be hosted by singer/songwriter, Robert Hill. A $10 donation is suggested. Proceeds will be donated to CUMAC, which helps feed the hungry in our area. Magic workshop for ‘tweens offered Magician Mark Zacharia will present his “Magic of the Mind” workshop for ‘tweens on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 3:30 p.m. at the Midland Park Public Library, 250 Godwin Avenue.
