OEM offers newsletter to residents The Franklin Lakes Office of Emergency Management is offering a newsletter that includes information about the borough’s emergency management plan and Community Emergency Response Team training. Residents are invited to visit www.franklinlakes.org and select “Emergency Services” and “Office of Emergency Management” to access the newsletter. Temple launches Family Night Shabbat & Dinner Join Temple Emanuel of North Jersey on Nov. 5 for the first Family Friday Night Shabbat. The evening will feature stories and singing for kids. The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by dinner at 7:30. All are welcome. Reservations are required; call (201) 560-0200. Library board to meet The Franklin Lakes Public Library Board of Trustees will meet on Monday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting, which takes place in the library’s local history room, is open to the public. For more information, call (201) 8912224. Ramapo High seeks festival donations Ramapo High School’s Holiday Festival, celebrating its 37th anniversary, will be held on Dec. 3. The festival, a community outreach program to the Roberto Clemente Elementary School in Paterson, buses 350 students and faculty members to spend the day at Ramapo High School for a holiday celebration. Requested items for donation are gently used outerwear suitable for children in kindergarten through fourth grade, gently used books for children in kindergarten through fourth grade, and new toys. The stall for Gifts for Loved Ones is seeking donations of men’s accessories, costume jewelry, toiletries, hats, mittens, gloves, and wallets. All donations may be brought to Ramapo High School located at 331 George Street in Franklin Lakes. Monetary donations are also needed to assist with the cost of transporting students and other expenses for the event. To send a monetary donation, checks may be made payable to Ramapo High School APTS. (Note “Holiday

Social Security benefits discussion set “Taking Social Security Seriously” will be presented at the Franklin Lakes Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. Guest speaker Larry Luxemberg will discusses the 13 factors individuals should review to determine when to begin receiving benefits. Ramapo Class of 2000 to host reunion The Ramapo High School Class of 2000 will hold its 10year reunion on Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. at the Brick House Restaurant in Wyckoff. Flu and pneumonia vaccines available The Valley Hospital Department of Community Health and the Franklin Lakes Board of Health will offer flu and pneumonia vaccines Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Franklin Lakes Recreation Center at 1 Vichiconti Way. All residents who are at least 65 years of age are eligible. Registration is required; call (201) 291-6090. Flu and pneumonia vaccines are covered by traditional Medicare Part B. Recipients must present their card at the time of service. Anyone with an HMO may choose to go to his or her primary care provider or choose to pay $27 for a flu vaccination. Pneumonia vaccines will be available for those who have never had a previous pneumonia vaccination. The cost is $35. Flu shots are encouraged for those aged 65 and over and those with chronic illnesses. Library hosts children’s authors Fans of the “Zack Files,” “Secret of Dripping Fang,” and the “Weird Planet” book series can meet author Dan Greenburg and his wife, J.C. Greenburg, author of the “Andrew Lost” book series, at the Franklin Lakes Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring in their books for the authors to sign. This Family Special is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Family specials are open to Franklin Lakes residents and current members of the Friends organization.

Learn about the auction website, eBay on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 7 to 8 p.m. Learn how to create an account, how to bid and sell, and search tips to find the items you want. Participants must be able to navigate online and must have intermediate computer skills to make full use of this class. “Fun Computer Sites on the Internet” will be held Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. to noon.
