He was a former member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3451, Pennsylvania, and a former parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He headed the football program for 23 years, and served as head baseball coach for 20 years and head basketball coach for ten.
