The session will be held at Marian Hall, Holy Name Medical Center, Teaneck. Arnold P. Gold, M.D., and Sandra Gold, Ed.D., co-founders of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, will deliver the keynote address. Guided by a “Culture of Caring,” the mission of BVMI is consistent with that of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation headquartered in Englewood. The purpose of the Gold Foundation is to “. . . . preserve the tradition of the caring physician and advance humanism in medicine.” Dr. Arnold Gold is chairman emeritus of the foundation’s board. He is professor of clinical neurology and clinical pediatrics at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, where he has been associated for more than 50 years. The author of more than 80 published articles and the recipient of many special awards, lectureships, and professorships, Dr. Gold has been recognized as one of the “Best Doctors in America” by America Health Magazine. He has been a visiting professor at hospitals and schools throughout the world. Dr. Sandra Gold, president of the foundation, has demonstrated her commitment to making the world a better place for over 40 years through professional achieve- Gold Foundation organizers to address BVMI ment, civic and philanthropic involvement, and leadership in many national and local organizations. She is a member of Columbia University’s Health Sciences Advisory Council, The Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center Advisory Committee, and the New Jersey Medical School Advisory Council among others. She is listed in “Who’s Who” in the East, America, the world, and among American women. BVMI, which opened in November 2009, delivers free primary and preventive medical care to residents of Bergen County who are working, earn between 100 percent and 200 percent of the federal poverty guideline, and are without health insurance of any kind. The BVMI Healthcare Center is located at 241 Moore Street, Hackensack. Patients are seen by appointment. Medical care at the BVMI Healthcare Center is delivered by volunteer physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. BVMI is completely dependent on contributed income from individuals, civic organizations, businesses, and foundation grants.
