O’Toole to address Republican Club Senator Kevin J. O’Toole will be the guest speaker at the May 17 meeting of the Franklin Lakes Republican Club. O’Toole represents the 40th Legislative District and serves on the senate’s Budget and Appropriations, State Government, and Judiciary committees. All are invited to attend. The club meets the third Monday of the month at 7:45 p.m. at the Bender Court Ambulance Corps Building. The Franklin Lakes Republican Club is a non-profit organization established to represent the Republican Party in town. Children invited to play Olympic Jeopardy Children in grades four through six are invited to test their knowledge of Olympic sports at the Olympic Jeopardy Trivia Game at the Franklin Lakes Library on Wednesday, May 26 from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. All participants will receive an Olympic game T-shirt. Sponsored by Franklin Lakes Recreation, the program is open to Franklin Lakes residents only. Registration is required and will begin on May17. Meet the new superintendent Dr. Frank Romano, the K-8 district’s new superintendent of schools, will be introduced on May 26 at 6:45 p.m. in the Woodside Avenue School library and on May 27 at 9 a.m. in the Franklin Avenue Middle School. Dr. Romano will assume his post on July 1. The School Forum is designed to provide information about the Franklin Lakes School District and to answer residents’ questions, hear their concerns, and share ideas. Several members of the board of education will be present. Polner to exhibit at library Local resident Joanne Polner will exhibit her photography at the Franklin Lakes Public Library during May. Polner’s photos feature scenes from Martha’s Vineyard. The library is located at 470 DeKorte Drive. Fall sports registration begins Registration for flag football, soccer and cheerleading is now open. Participants may register online at www. gameplan411.com or at the recreation office Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fees for fall sports are: cheerleading for grades two through eight, $85; flag football for kindergarten and first grade, $65; and football for grades two through eight, $190. three through eight, $70; and grades nine through 12, $75. After May 14, only in-person registrations will be accepted. There will be a $50 late fee added. Those who register for soccer after May 14 will be placed on a waiting list. Photos are required for players in third grade and up. Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. There will be an open bar at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and awards at 6:30 p.m. This year’s event will feature a new “scramble” format. The package is $250 and includes: greens fees, golf cart, open driving range, buffet lunch, cocktail reception, and the open bar followed by the awards ceremony and dinner.
