Members of the Midland Park-Wyckoff Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7086 will host the annual Mother’s Day Weekend Plant Sale. Located on the property of Jersey Gas, at the corner of Godwin and Vreeland avenues in Midland Park, and at Wyckoff Getty, 322 Franklin Avenue in Wyckoff, the sale will take place May 7 and 8 from 10 to 4. Wyckoff Getty will donate 10 cents per gallon of gas sold between 10 and 2 on Saturday to the post. A wide assortment of annuals and perennials in pots and hanging baskets will be available at reasonable prices. Proceeds benefit hospitalized veterans and the upkeep of the group’s Faner Road headquarters. Friends seek books for sale Now through May 8, the Friends of the Midland Park Memorial Library will collect gently used books for the group’s upcoming Book Sale. The sale will be held Friday, May 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library’s downstairs Community Room. Donations will be accepted during library hours. Residents are reminded to not leave donated books outside the library. Items may include: fiction, non-fiction, hardcover and soft cover books, CDs, DVDs, books on CD, and videotapes. Please note that the following items cannot be accepted: magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks, vinyl records, cassette tapes, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, or materials more than five years old on the topics of business, finance, computers, travel, health, child care, or education. All items will be priced to sell. Proceeds will benefit the enhancement of library and its offerings. For more information, call (201) 444-2390. Multi-family Garage Sale set The Church of God of Midland Park will hold a multifamily Garage Sale on May 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase. The church is located at 400 Godwin Avenue. ‘Heavenly’ breakfast announced The Midland Park United Methodist Church will host its Heavenly Hotcakes and Fabulous French Toast Breakfast May 8 from 7 to 11 a.m. The cost for the breakfast is $5 for adults and $2 for children under age 12. Flower fundraiser to aid Cooperstown trip The Midland Park Boys U12 baseball team will hold a sale of spring flowers on May 8 at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Rain date: May 15). Community Center open to residents Midland Park residents are reminded that the DePhillips Community Center is open year-round for recreational activities Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday through Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Activities include pickup basketball, volleyball, ping pong, air hockey, and board games are available for use. The new outdoor basketball courts are now open. Jackals tickets on sale The Midland Park U10 Travel Baseball team recently announced its June 5 fundraiser, which will be held at Yogi Berra Stadium in Upper Montclair. The New Jersey Jackals will play the Brockton Rox. Tickets are $28 for adults and $18 for children. Included with admission to the game will be fireworks and an all-you-can-eat picnic. Seniors invited to practice positive meditation Seniors are invited to experience positive thinking at Kara Gardella’s program at the Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Center, 46-50 Center Street in Midland Park. Sessions will be held the first and third Friday of every month at 12:30 p.m. The program will begin on May 7. Gardella will offer thought provoking discussion, positive thinking, and meditation. Borough to auction equipment The Borough of Midland Park will hold its 2010 auction on Wednesday, May 5 at 2 p.m. The preview of merchandize to be auctioned will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. On the block this year will be police cars, a dump truck, a BMW motorcycle, and office equipment. The auction will take place at the Department of Public Works garage on 20 Greenwood Avenue. All bidders welcome.
