Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • March 31, 2010 Wyckoff Wanderings Walk to beneﬁt Habitat for Humanity Wyckoff Reformed Church’s tenth annual walk to benefit the Paterson division of Habitat for Humanity will be held on Saturday, April 17. Participants will walk from the church in Wyckoff to the Habitat headquarters in Paterson. All are welcome to join the walk and to make a donation. All donations may be made directly to Habitat for Humanity or mailed to the Wyckoff Reformed Church, 580 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff NJ 07481. Contact the church at (201) 891-1782 for further information. Holiday schedule announced Wyckoff Town Hall will be closed on Good Friday, April 2. The municipal offices will reopen April 5 at 9 a.m. The township recycling and conservation center will also be closed on April 2 and 3. Curbside garbage and trash will be picked up as scheduled. The library will be closed on April 2 and 4, but will have hours on Saturday, April 3. Seniors invited to Pasta Dinner The students of Eisenhower Middle School will host the Tenth Annual Pasta Dinner for the senior citizens of Wyckoff on Monday, April 19. This complimentary event will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Eisenhower Middle School. Students will serve dinner and provide entertainment. Easter Egg Hunt set Grace United Methodist Church, 55 Russell Avenue, will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 3. This year, the public is invited to join the group for breakfast. The morning will begin with a continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m., followed by a puppet show by Marian and Friends, featuring life sized puppets at 10 a.m. Since 1976, Marian Gehman, of Marian and Friends, has been entertaining as a ventriloquist throughout the northeastern portion of the United States. Her shows feature a variety of zany characters, audience-involvement, an inspirational message, and lots of fun. After the puppet show, children and their families will be invited outside to the lawn of Grace Church to hunt for chocolate filled plastic eggs that have been hidden in the grass at 10:45 a.m. The events are free. Participants sought for Wyckoff Day Wyckoff’s first ever Wyckoff Day is planned for Saturday, June 12 from noon to dusk at the Wyckoff Family YMCA. The event will include attractions, rides, crafts, hayrides, and entertainment, topped off by a free outdoor concert by the “B Street Band” – the original Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band. The official Wyckoff Day Committee members include: Judy Abma of Abma’s Farm; Matt Brogowski of The Wireless Store; Dave Connolly of Wyckoff Township Committee; Dale DeFino, North Jersey Newspapers; Howie Felixbrod, owner of Blue Moon; Joyce Kwiatkowski, Wyckoff YMCA; Lee Parker, owner of 3 Chicas Mexican Kitchen; Jennifer Sauer, Wyckoff YMCA; Kathy Scarpelli, Villadom TIMES; Dottie Van Der Horn, owner of Wyckoff Florist; Joy Vottero, director of the Wyckoff YMCA; and Andy Wingfield, Wyckoff Recreation Director. The event promises to generate positive visibility for businesses, civic organizations, non-profits, and clubs. Everyone is invited to participate, and there are many ways to be involved. The Wyckoff Day Committee needs vendors, sponsors, and volunteers to help make the kick-off event spectacular. Parade participants sought Wyckoff’s Annual Memorial Day Parade Committee invites men and women who have served our country, students in the local schools, churches, Scouts, and organizations to march in this year’s parade. Spring Garden Tour date set The Wyckoff Area Garden Club has set a date for its upcoming house and garden tour to benefit the Zabriskie House in Wyckoff. “Beyond the Garden Gate” will feature local gardens and several homes reflecting designs from the colonial era through the modern period. The event will be held on Wednesday, June 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance sale tickets will be $35; tickets sold at the door on the day of the event will be $40. Hockey equipment collection underway Wyckoff resident Brandon Nicodemo, a junior at Ramapo High School, has launched a new website, Second Time Around the Rink. The website is designed to collect used ice hockey equipment for Hockey in Newark, a program supporting financially disadvantaged youth in New Jersey. Hockey in Newark, a non-profit organization, is dependent upon community support and donations to keep its program running successfully. All donated equipment will be delivered to their Newark facility where middle school and high school aged youth learn to skate and play hockey. Chambers to address Historical Society On Monday, April 12, Kevin Chambers will address the Wyckoff Historical Society about furniture of the Hackensack River Valley.
