Residents are asked to be on the lookout for the bags that have been distributed, and fill them with canned or dried packaged food, toiletries, paper supplies, baby food, etc. Filled bags should be placed on a front step or other highly visible location. College admissions process outlined Deborah Shames, a state certified counselor with almost 20 years of college admissions experience, will offer a program on the college admission process on Wednesday, April 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Midland Park Memorial Library. Shames will discuss how to select the right colleges, how to make the most of a college visit, what financial aid opportunities are available, and other topics. WPU announces Dean’s List William Paterson University in Wayne has named the following Midland Park students to its Dean’s List for the fall 2009 semester: Adam Long, Glen Monturi, and Lauren Rozema. In order to qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must carry a minimum of 12 credits for the semester and earn a grade point average of 3.45 or better. PTA sponsors Cultural Awareness Program As part of its Cultural Awareness Program, the Midland Park High School PTA is sponsoring “Make a Difference” on Tuesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. Mountain climber Lori Schneider will provide a media presentation of her quest to climb the highest peak on each continent after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Schneider will share her experiences and remind the audience to live out their dreams and to climb above their perceived limitations. The free presentation is appropriate for all ages and will be held in Memorial Hall at Midland Park High School. Scouts hold Me & My Guy Square Dance The annual Father/Daughter, Me & My Guy Square Dance sponsored by the Midland Park Girl Scouts will be held March 26 at 7:15 p.m. at Highland School. Used clothing and toys wanted The Midland Park Cooperstown Baseball Team is holding a Used Clothing Drive through April 15. The team is collecting the following items: wearable clothing and shoes for men, women, and children, pocketbooks, backpacks, belts, hats, gloves, scarves, baby accessories, blankets, sheets, comforters, pillows, tablecloths, curtains, towels, bath rugs, bicycles - small to medium, soft toys (such as stuffed animals and rag dolls), and hard toys (cars, trucks, action figures, and dolls). Hard toys must fit in a box 24”x24”x21.” Items should be placed in tied plastic bags and brought to 69 Evergreen Street or 212 Park Avenue. Brush and branch pickup scheduled There will be a courtesy brush and branch pickup for Midland Park residents on Wednesday, March 24. This pickup is for brush and branch debris created by the recent storm. Residents are reminded that branches must be no larger than two inches in diameter, and no more than four feet in length. No debris should be placed in the street. Any branches put out for pickup must be tied in manageable bundles. Please note: Logs and stumps will not be collected. Branches and brush should be placed at the curb the night before to ensure pickup the next day. Easter Egg Hunt set An Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 27 at the Dairy Street Recreation playground located on Dairy Street in Midland Park. The hunt will begin for children ages two and three at 1 p.m.; for children ages four and five at 1:30 p.m.; and for children ages six and seven at 2 p.m. Children should bring a basket to collect eggs.
