Learn to conquer clutter Linda Ander will present Conquer Clutter on Wednesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. at the Franklin Lakes Public Library. Learn the benefits of having less mess to reduce stress and how to stay a step ahead of clutter. Her program will focus on eliminating paper piles, and finding unused space. All are invited. Writers’ group forming The Franklin Lakes Public Library’s Adult Writers’ Group will hold its first meeting in the Local History Room of the library on Wednesday, March 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and will be facilitated by Ron Rizio and moderated by Ann Marie Miller. Submissions must be sent via e-mail to Ron Rizio at ronrizio@yahoo. com before the meeting. The group will convene on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Teen Kula for Karma Kula-thon set Teen Kula for Karma will be hosting a kula-thon on Saturday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at the municipal field on DeKorte Drive in Franklin Lakes. The Kula-thon begins with a family yoga session at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 5K walk/run. At the end of the walk/run, participants will be welcomed with live music and refreshments. Local businesses and organizations will be on hand to share information about their involvement in the community. The mission of Teen Kula is to inspire youth to make a positive impact in the community by promoting the work of Kula for Karma. Through outreach and collaboration, these teens work to raise awareness for Kula for Karma yoga programs that serve children with autism and other developmental disabilities; children and teens with cancer; and at-risk youth. Families, teens and individuals of all ages are welcome to join in any or all of the activities. There is a registration fee of $25 per individual or $35 per family to participate. In addition, participants are encouraged to obtain pledge sponsors to contribute to this worthy cause. All proceeds will be distributed to a charity serving needy youth. Saint Patrick’s Day lunch planned A Saint Patrick’s Day luncheon for Franklin Lakes’ seniors is planned for Wednesday, March 17 at noon in the Franklin Lakes Fire House on Franklin Avenue. Seniors are invited to the Irish sing-a-long and the lunch of corned beef sandwiches, coffee, and dessert. Broadway trip planned The Franklin Lakes Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary has planed a trip to the Imperial Theater in New York City to see “Billy Elliot” on Wednesday, May 5. The cost of this trip, which includes round-trip bus transportation and admission to the show, is $140. Buses will leave at 10:30 a.m. from the Franklin Lakes Recreation Building, 1 Vichiconti Way, Franklin Lakes. Attendees will enjoy lunch or shopping on their own prior to the 2 p.m. performance.
