Summer camp registration to begin Registration for the Wyckoff Recreation and Park Department’s summer camp program will be held March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. and March 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. Both registrations will be held at the recreation office at the end of Woodland Avenue. The Wyckoff Summer Day Camp will be held at the Wyckoff Memorial Field and will run from June 28 through July 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. There will be no camp on Monday, July 5. The camp is for children entering kindergarten through grade five in September. Camp activities include sports, games, arts and crafts, theme days, costume days, contests and tournaments, movies, parties, field trips, and entertainment by several professional performers. The cost of the camp is $80 per week and is for Wyckoff residents only. Registration materials, including a signed health and immunization record signed and dated by a physician, must be completed in full ahead of time and handed in during the above registration times only. These materials will be distributed through all Wyckoff public and private schools. For children who will be entering kindergarten in September and students who attend a school outside of Wyckoff, materials can be picked up in the recreation office. Spring Garden Tour date set The Wyckoff Area Garden Club has set a date for its upcoming house and garden tour to benefit the Zabriskie House in Wyckoff. “Beyond the Garden Gate” will feature local gardens and several homes reflecting designs from the colonial era through the modern period. The event will be held on Wednesday, June 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance sale tickets will be $35; tickets sold at the door on the day of the event will be $40. Participants sought for Wyckoff Day Wyckoff’s first ever Wyckoff Day is planned for Saturday, June 12 from noon to dusk at the Wyckoff Family YMCA. The event will include attractions, rides, crafts, hayrides, and entertainment, topped off by a free outdoor concert by the “B Street Band” – the original Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band. The official Wyckoff Day Committee members include: Judy Abma of Abma’s Farm; Matt Brogowski of The Wireless Store; Dave Connolly of Wyckoff Township Committee; Dale DeFino, North Jersey Newspapers; Howie Felixbrod, owner of Blue Moon; Joyce Kwiatkowski, Wyckoff YMCA; Lee Parker, owner of 3 Chicas Mexican Kitchen; Jennifer Sauer, Wyckoff YMCA; Kathy Scarpelli, Villadom TIMES; Dottie Van Der Horn, owner of Wyckoff Florist; Joy Vottero, director of the Wyckoff YMCA; and Andy Wingfield, Wyckoff Recreation Director. The event promises to generate positive visibility for businesses, civic organizations, non-profits, and clubs. Everyone is invited to participate, and there are many ways to be involved. The Wyckoff Day Committee needs vendors, sponsors, and volunteers to help make the kick-off event spectacular. Hockey equipment collection underway Wyckoff resident Brandon Nicodemo, a junior at Ramapo High School, has launched a new website, Second Time Around the Rink. The website is designed to collect used ice hockey equipment for Hockey in Newark, a program supporting financially disadvantaged youth in New Jersey. Hockey in Newark, a non-profit organization, is dependent upon community support and donations to keep its program running successfully. All donated equipment will be delivered to their Newark facility where middle school and high school aged youth learn to skate and play hockey. Character Bash and Fundraiser planned The Andrew Friedland Preschool PTO at Temple Beth Rishon invites the community to a Character Bash and Auction on March 21 from 3 to 5 p.m. Attendees can come dressed in costume and meet their favorite princesses, superheroes, and TV characters. The event will include balloon animals, face painting, a live DJ and an auction. Auction proceeds will be donated to help rebuild those countries affected by recent natural disasters. Chambers to address Historical Society On Monday, April 12, Kevin Chambers will address the Wyckoff Historical Society about furniture of the Hackensack River Valley. The discussion will be held at the Larkin House, 380 Godwin Avenue in Wyckoff, at 7:30 p.m. Residents are invited to bring chairs from the Hackensack River Valley period for Chambers to evaluate. PTO hosts Spring Plant Sale Coolidge Elementary School’s PTO will hold its Annual Spring Plant Sale featuring annuals, perennials, and herbs. Order forms are available online at www.wyckoffs.org/ coolidge, and must be returned by March 29. Plant sale pickup will be Friday, May 7 at Coolidge School, 420 Grandview Avenue.
