This year the public is also invited for breakfast. A fun-filled morning will begin with a continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Puppet Show by Marian and Friends, featuring life sized puppets. Since 1976, Marian Gehman, of Marian and Friends, has been entertaining as a ventriloquist throughout the northeastern portion of the United States. Her shows feature a variety of zany characters, as well as audience-involvement, and inspirational message, and lots of fun! Marian’s 12-year-old daughter, Jenny, joins the show with some colorful puppets of her own. Together, they delight audiences with their lively show. After the puppet show, children and their families will be invited outside onto the spacious lawn of Grace Church to hunt for chocolate filled plastic eggs that have been hidden in the grass. The entire morning is free of charge to the public. It is an offering to the community to promote fun and goodwill to all. Grace United Methodist Church is located at 555 Russell Avenue in Wyckoff. Chief warns of bogus census takers Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox has warned residents to beware of scam artists who may try to use the 2010 U.S. Census as an opportunity to gain information leading to identity theft. “You will not be asked by the census for Social Security numbers and financial information such as bank account numbers,” Chief Fox said last week. “The U.S. Census Bureau will not be contacting people by e-mail. If you get such an e-mail, it is clearly a scam.” Census workers, the chief added, do not solicit donations. The chief said census workers who come to homes will have an identification badge with an expiration date and a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark. The workers are trained to conduct business outside the door of the house. “Be wary of people who might ask to come inside to complete the census form. In fact,” the chief said, “it would be a good idea to notify people of any census taker who asked to enter the house, and a bad idea to let the supposed census taker do so.” Chief Fox and the members of the Wyckoff Township Committee urged residents to simply take the 10 minutes necessary to fill out the written census forms that will arrive this week and mail them back immediately. “The 2010 census questionnaire is one of the shortest in history: just 10 questions that take about 10 minutes to complete,” Chief Fox said. The township committee members said the census will enable Wyckoff to qualify for its fair share of federal assistance and urged all residents to cooperate. J.
