Page 12 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • March 17, 2010 Dear Readers: Time is flying by! The weather is changing and temperatures are rising by the day. Just a week or two ago my shoulders were sore from shoveling out the driveway after almost two feet of snow fell, and now it is 50 degrees and sunny this week. The partnership of W’yckoff’s stores, restaurants, and businesses and the local residents is what makes Wyckoff such a great place to live, work, and shop. You don’t have to leave town for much of anything. Most people end up at the mall, or down on the highway out of old habits, and end up fighting traffic, full parking lots, and poor customer service, all while using up time and gas. Your local store keepers, restaurateurs, and service businesses offer unparalleled customer service and competitive prices close to home and with free parking. Why go anywhere else? Now for our upcoming events: The Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Wyckoff Family YMCA, will be promoting the first ever “Wyckoff Day” in June to celebrate our great township and all that it stands for. This celebration will feature many of our local non-profits and local businesses in conjunction with many corporate sponsors to bring this amazing event to life. With live music, family fun rides and attractions, food vendors, and a hayride through Abma’s farm, this event will celebrate all things “Wyckoff.” Wyckoff Day will be held on the property of the YMCA. With their expertise in running large events, I am sure this will be a first class family affair. Watch this newspaper for details, and plan to join us that day to celebrate our township. Plans for a new Shop Rite supermarket are progressing. Attention is being paid to the topics of shade trees, the environmental cleanup of the existing A&P site, and putting limits on the size and scope of the project to make it as appealing for the township and area residents as possible. Upcoming meetings will be publicized in this newspaper and on the township’s website. You can make your voice heard if you feel the need. A strong downtown shopping district is necessary to make our town a desirable place, and helps keep tax increases to a minimum. The business community needs the residents to continue to support us by shopping in town in a friendly atmosphere with people you know and can trust. Please support us. There are over 140 Chamber members who are committed to serving this community because we live and work here, and know the value of personalized service and a fair price. Please shop Wyckoff first. You won’t be disappointed. Please check us out on the Web at www. wyckoffchamber.com.
