Barnert hosts Mitzvah Mall Barnert Temple will host its 11th Mitzvah Mall on Sunday, March 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the temple. The Mitzvah Mall is an education and outreach event that introduces select charities to prospective donors of all ages and interests, and in the process teaches the gift of giving. Last year’s Mitzvah Mall raised nearly $30,000 for participating community support organizations, mostly through small personal donations from Barnert Temple members. This year, 10 charities were selected to be Mitzvah Mall beneficiaries. At the event, table-top exhibits will be set up around to allow for presentations. Visitors come and go throughout the day asking questions and learn about each charity so they can make informed decisions about where to donate. Charities will accept donations at the event. Temple leaders have invited clergy and social action leaders from area synagogues and churches to attend the Mitzvah Mall and learn first-hand how to organize a similar social action program for their congregations.
