Columbia Bank is located at 303 Franklin Avenue. Young authors sought The Wyckoff Public Library is offering its annual Young Authors Creative Writing Workshop this summer. Children in grades three through six are invited to participate every Wednesday afternoon, July 7 through Aug. 4. During the workshop, participants will produce an original book. Space is limited, and participants will be chosen by lottery. Applications are available at the children’s desk at the library, 200 Woodland Avenue. Deadline for applications is June 18. Please note: Adult volunteers are needed to assist with this program. Library offers programs for teens Teens in grades seven through 10 are invited to join the summer reading program, “Make Waves,” at the Wyckoff Public Library. The program will offer prizes as incentives to encourage summer long participation. The two teen book discussion groups, Talk it Up, for seventh through ninth graders, and Speak Out, for grades 10 through 12, will meet for six weeks throughout the summer. Other programs planned for teens this summer are stenciling with Sharon Gross, water colors with Rosemarie Crabtree, and origami with Linda Bogen. Vacation Bible School set Vacation Bible School at Abundant Life Reformed Church, 475 Lafayette Avenue, is planned for July 26 through 30 from 9 a.m. to noon. “Parables in the Park” is open to children four years old through fifth grade. Lions Club hosts Annual Carnival The Wyckoff Lions Club will hold its carnival at the Guardian Angel Church in Allendale June 8 through 13. The carnival will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Wednesday will be wristband night; children can have unlimited access to the rides with a $25 wristband purchase. The Lions Club donates 100 percent of the profits from this event to local charities and to offer scholarships to the three local high schools. House and garden tour set “Beyond the Garden Gate,” the upcoming house and garden tour sponsored by the trustees of the Zabriskie House and the Wyckoff Area Garden Club, is scheduled for Wednesday, June 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour will feature nine Wyckoff homes and gardens representing the colonial period through the 21st century. Light refreshments will be served. Tickets purchased in advance are $35. Tickets will also be available on the day of the event for $40, and may be purchased from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Grace Methodist Church, 555 Russell Avenue, Wyckoff. The event will benefit the Zabriskie House. Volunteers sought The Longview Assisted Living Residence at Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff is looking for volunteers for two activities. Musicians are needed to play instruments for the residents at 2 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays. Also needed are individuals who would enjoy sharing a hobby or special interest with the residents. Corrected conference hours Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff will hold a Caring and Compassion Conference Sept. 17 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and Sept.18 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This two-day conference is specifically designed to equip, inspire, and encourage laypeople involved in all forms of caring ministries in their local congregations. The conference will include three keynote addresses by the Rev. James Kok, D.Min., director of care ministry for the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA, and 25 workshops. Blood Drive planned The Knights of Columbus will hold a Community Blood Drive on Tuesday, June 8 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Saint Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue. To schedule an appointment, call (201) 251-3703. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. Care-A-Lot hosts Summer Camp Care-A-Lot Christian Nursery School, 475 Lafayette Avenue, Wyckoff will be offering a Summer Camp. Each week will feature a special theme.
