Chuck Shotmeyer of Franklin Lakes has received the Silver Beaver Award in recognition of his contributions to the Northern New Jersey Council of the Boy Scouts of America. At the award ceremony, Shotmeyer was described as Boy Scouting’s most ardent promoter, a man who never misses an opportunity to extol the organization’s advantages. The honoree is an NNJC vice president, district special event chair, an assistant Scoutmaster, and the quintessential volunteer. However, when Troop 77 Scouts think of Shotmeyer, they recall the homemade chili and beef jerky he brings on camping trips and to the Iditarod. Shotmeyer was acknowledged for sharing his talents to make Scouting and his community better for today’s youth. In his hometown, Shotmeyer has served as borough council president, police commissioner, fire commissioner, president of the Franklin Lakes Republican Club, a recreation coach, and coach of the Eastern Christian Middle
