Jackals tickets on sale The Midland Park U10 Travel Baseball team recently announced its June 5 fundraiser, which will be held at Yogi Berra Stadium in Upper Montclair. The New Jersey Jackals will play the Brockton Rox. Tickets are $28 for adults and $18 for children. Included with admission to the game will be fireworks and an all-you-can-eat picnic. Children ages five through 12 may choose from four different track and field events. The day will begin with a ceremonial passing of the torch starting at 9 a.m. followed by an award ceremony at 11 a.m. All participants will receive a free T-shirt the morning of the event. Artist presentation offered at library The Friends of the Midland Park Memorial Library host artist Jean-Claude Marchionni on Wednesday, June 9, at 11 a.m. This designer, stone carver, and sculptor has extensive experience in architectural, ornamental, and restoration work, which can be seen on the Strasbourg Cathedral and on the Musee du Louvre in Paris, and on the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, Grand Central Station, and Rockefeller Center. He also produced new work for the Jewish Museum Extension in New York City and the Huffington Library in Ohio. Marchionni was inducted as an Honorary Regent and Artist in Residence at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine for his Portal project the cathedral. This presentation will showcase some of his pieces of stonework and a slide show of the artist’s many achievements. The program is free and open to the public. Shoshana is the only woman in the industry to win two FiFi Packaging Awards in the same year for the launch of two fragrances for Bijan. Ben and Shoshana were married in 1989 and moved to Franklin Lakes 17 years ago. They are the parents of three children: Lauren, who is currently studying at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School; Julie, who will be starting at the University of Syracuse this fall; and Joseph, who will be attending the Bergen Academies beginning September. In the decade since its inception, the Giblis have been supporters of Chabad’s work and participants in its educational and holiday programs. Their exemplary character and embodiment of Jewish values, spirit, and warmth serve as an inspirational model. Mark Rosen, a long-time resident of Franklin Lakes, received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Hartford and a master’s degree in plastics engineering from the University of Massachusetts. In 1988, he founded the Corex Design Group, an award-winning plastics engineering firm that has worked on over 1,000 plastics projects for clients including Fortune 100 OEMS and industry leading toolmakers and processors. Since its founding, the firm has been awarded numerous gold and silver medals in international competitions from the IDSA and is the holder of eight patents for the design of medical devices. Aliza was raised in Brooklyn, New York and studied biology in college before graduating with a license in diagnostic medical sonography. She currently studies Ohashiatsu Japanese healing at the Ohashi institute in New York City and has a private practice in therapeutic healing and acupressure. For the past three years, she has been a vital part of the annual dinner’s Auction Committee, dedicating her time each spring to solicit prizes for the auction. She devotes much of her time to the education and wellbeing of the couple’s three children: Jason, 10; Sarah, 8; and Nathaniel, 6. Mark and Aliza met in 1996 at a cancer benefit in New York and were married two years later. Their involvement with Chabad began prior to their move from Hackensack to their current home in Franklin Lakes and their presence at weekly Shabbat and holiday services, programs and educational classes is a constant. In 2006 they partially sponsored the purchase and refurbishment of Chabad’s first Torah scroll in memory of Mark’s mother, Natalie OBM. Their strong support and enthusiastic participation have made them and their children a cherished part of Chabad and the Jewish community at large.
