The first event will be Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. when Boys’ Varsity Wrestling Team takes on Manchester. The next opportunities will be Thursday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. for the Boys’ Varsity Basketball vs. Eastern Christian game, and Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. for the Girls’ Varsity basketball vs. Immaculate Conception game. The theme for these evenings is “green out.” All fans are urged to wear their green in support of Panther Pride. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Beefsteak to benefit sports program Tickers are now on sale for the Midland Park High School Booster Beefsteak Dinner, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30, from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Midland Park Firehouse. This annual evening of fun and food will benefit the Midland Park High School Sports Program. The

Fish and Chips dinner planned The Midland Park Knights of Columbus will host its Annual Fish and Chips dinner on Friday, Feb. 19 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in Kennedy Hall at Church of the Nativity, 316 Prospect Street. Tickets are $13 per person; children’s macaroni and cheese will be available for $3. This year, as this is the first Friday in Lent, no chicken will be served. Argyle’s will provide dinner. Lions Club offering scholarships The Midland Park Lions Club is offering two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors. All high school seniors residing in Midland Park who plan to attend an institution of higher learning are encouraged to apply. Seniors graduating from Midland Park High School may contact their guidance counselor for an application. All other students may pick up an application from the Midland Park Public Library at 250 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Scholarships will be awarded based on the applications submitted, which will be at the sole discretion of the Midland Park Lions Club. All applications are due April 12. MPTV holds fundraiser at Shortway’s Midland Park Television will hold a fundraiser on Monday, Jan. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Shortway’s Barn, 991 Goffle Road in Hawthorne. DePreker Media Center at Highland Elementary School. Spring bowling registration open Registration is now open for the Midland Park Recreation Spring Bowling Club for children in grades two through eight. The five-week program meets on Monday afternoons from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. at Holiday Lanes in Oakland. The program will run from March 15 through April 12. Costs include the registration fee of $5 and bowling at $6 per week. Board member Jim Hogan voted against the first resolution concerning the student who attended the hearing and in favor of the resolution concerning the student whose parents waived their right to a hearing. Trustee Ira Belsky was absent when the votes were taken, but the balance of the board approved the passage of the resolutions. Schoen provided a brief statement which read, “It is unfortunate that these situations occurred, but they did. The board followed its policies and procedures and concluded that it was in the best interest of the district to remove these individuals from the school environment for the remainder of the school year.” In an unrelated incident, the Franklin Lakes Police Department reported on Jan. 7 that, following a two-month investigation, a 16-year-old Wyckoff resident was charged with “possession with intent to distribute” Ecstasy, a controlled dangerous substance, on school property. The individual was also charged with providing false information to law enforcement. This case has been forwarded to the Bergen County Family Court.
