January 13, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 5 Wyckoff Boonstra takes helm; committee members take oath by John Koster Rudy Boonstra was unanimously voted mayor of Wyckoff for 2010 after having served in virtually other post in the township, including board of education trustee, a member of the zoning board, and a member of the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years. “The small things count, so yes, I will be changing the light bulbs around town hall, and I hope to do a good job,” Boonstra said in a brief acceptance speech at the Jan. 1 reorganization meeting of the Wyckoff Township Committee. Boonstra said that many challenges would have to be faced in operating the township during the present economic conditions, but said he would rely on the support of Wyckoff Township Administrator Robert Shannon and the staff at town hall. The new mayor called Shannon “the best township administrator in the State of New Jersey,” and added that Wyckoff has the lowest per capita number of employees in the state.
