Spend the evening tasting offerings from the restaurants, caterers, and markets of Wyckoff. Sip wines from around the country and bid on incredible works of art by many talented local artists. Young adult Mass and coffeehouse set A new teen and young adult night Mass and coffeehouse will be offered monthly at Saint Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff, beginning Saturday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. The new Contemporary Mass for teens, college students, and young adults will be followed by a Café 700 Coffeehouse located downstairs in the Saint John Bosco Room. At Café 700, young people will have the opportunity to listen to music, meet friends, hang out, have dessert, and play pool or ping-pong. Upcoming dates are Feb. 6, March 20, and April 17. Walton elected to Cadillac Club board Wyckoff resident Bob Walton has been elected to the board of directors of the Cadillac Club of New Jersey and will serve in the capacity of vice president. Walton and the eight other directors will guide the 150-member club through its 20th season. The Cadillac Club of North Jersey is open to anyone with a love of Cadillacs, especially older ones. Bereavement support group forming The Church of Saint Elizabeth, 700 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff will hold a support group for individuals who have experienced a loss at least three months ago. The program will begin Feb. 2 and continue for eight consecutive Tuesdays. The group will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Amadeus Room on the second floor of the Parish Center. Open to men and women of all faiths, the group will provide a safe, confidential atmosphere to meet and spend time with others who have also experienced a loss. Mom to Mom group to meet Mom to Mom, a support group for mothers, will meet on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. at Cedar Hill Church. Christmas tree collection in final round The final round of Christmas tree collections will be this week. Residents are requested to place their Christmas trees at the curb. The trees must be free of all ornaments, tree stands, tinsel, and other decorations. The trees should neither be wrapped in plastic nor placed in plastic bags. The discarded trees will be chipped and the chips will be available to Wyckoff residents in the spring at the recycling/conservation center. Christmas trees will not be collected by the regular trash collectors. After the conclusion of the special collection period, residents must bring discarded trees to the recycling center on West Main Street between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Christmas tree pickup will be suspended in the event of inclement weather. Traveling baseball registration to begin Registration for the select traveling baseball teams of the Wyckoff Recreation and Parks Department has been set. All boys ages seven through 14 as of May 1, 2010, who wish to try out for one of the traveling teams must register at the recreation office through Jan. 15. Tryouts for the 9-U, 10-U, 11-U, and 12-U teams are being held in late January. As always, the recreation department will look to carry two baseball teams at the 8-U and 12-U levels. This means that approximately 24-30 boys at each age level will be given the opportunity to play travel baseball this summer instead of the typical 12 to15. The travel baseball season runs from mid- to late March through the end of July or early August. Practices are held on weeknights and weekends in the late afternoon or early evening. Games can be held on weeknights and weekends. Attendance at all practices and games is mandatory. Registration is open to Wyckoff residents only.
