Regional high schools get annual report cards
by Frank J. McMahon The Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District has received the New Jersey Department of Education’s annual report cards for 2008-09. The NJDOE has provided the public with information about every school in New Jersey since 1995, when the state legislature mandated the annual accountability report. In her narrative, Superintendent C Lauren Schoen explained that the regional high school district serves students from Franklin Lakes, Oakland, and Wyckoff in a comprehensive two-campus setting. “Students from the three communities may choose which of the two high schools they wish to attend for their four-year high school experience,” Schoen said. “The district offers opportunities to support academic, social, and emotional growth through a wide array of course offerings in the core content areas as well as diverse electives and the instructional staff demonstrates ongoing dedication and competence as they deliver a high quality differentiated program to address the needs of all learners. “As a district, we have identified the need to address the skills students will need as they move through the 21st century. Targeted areas include creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, communication and collaboration and information, media, and technology. The Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District believes in the necessity for preparing students to compete in a global world where a keen awareness has been developed in the areas of economic and business literary, healthy living, civics, and scientific and mathematical thinking, and language arts literacy.” The report card information is arranged under five categories: school environment, student information, student performance indicators, staff information, and district financial data.
