Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • February 10, 2010 Wyckoff The Wyckoff Family YMCA and Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce recently presented “From Palette to Palate,” an event featuring an art exhibit and auction, sampling specialties from local restaurants, and wine tasting. Thanks to an overwhelming response from Wyckoff Chamber businesses and the local community, the event raised $4,500 to benefit the Y’s financial assistance outreach and the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce’s scholarship fund. In addition, the Wyckoff Family YMCA and Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce are proud to announce that $1,000 of the evening’s proceeds have also been directed to YMCA World Service to assist in the earthquake relief for people of Haiti. Joy Vottero, Wyckoff YMCA’s executive director, remarked, “It is the goal of both the Wyckoff Y and Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce to not only raise funds for their respective organizations, but also to be able to assist others in time of critical need. The timing of this event and the tragedy in Haiti was significant in our decision to draw on the success of our event to help make an impact thousands of miles away. The Y and Chamber board members unanimously agreed upon the importance of supporting the recovery efforts in Haiti, underscoring the Y’s longstanding mission to help people regardless of age, sec, race or religion to develop in spirit mind and body. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti, and the Wyckoff YMCA will be working to further develop a charitable outreach to the Haitian community.” Joint ‘Palette to Palate’ fundraiser is success Pictured are Joyce Kwiatkowski, Y associate director; Ron Zier, president, Y Board of Directors; Joy Vottero, Y executive director; Lee Parker, Y board member; and Howie Felixbrod, member, Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce.
