Philip A. Burghart of Cape Charles, Virginia, formerly of Franklin Lakes, died Jan. 29. He was 83. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He had been employed with GAF Corporation, Houdry Process Corporation, Air Products, Halcon International, and was president of Ergenics, Inc. He is survived by his wife Roberta, his children Roberta Ahmed of Bellport, New York, Scott Burghart of Lafayette, and Jill Scobie of Asheville, North Carolina, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and his sister Marion King of West Islip, New York. He was predeceased by his son Gary and his brother Herbert. Arrangements were made by Doughty Funeral Home in Virginia. Memorial donations may be made to the Smile Train, 28th Floor, 41 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10010. John L. Chaipis of Wyckoff, formerly of Allendale, died Feb. 2. He was 85. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He had been employed as chief engineer of Grado Labs in Brooklyn, New York. He is survived by his wife Elaine (nee Reinhardt) of Wyckoff, his daughter Wendy Sowa-Maldarelli of Teaneck, and stepson Scott Riegel of Northwood, New Hampshire, and one grandson. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Alberta “Bert” A. DeBlaey, nee De Leeuw, of Wyckoff died Feb.2. She was 73. Before retiring in 2004, she had been a dental receptionist for Dr. Elliot Frey in Wyckoff for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Irving Park Christian Reformed Church in Midland Park for 34 years before a merger with the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff. She was a member of the Coffee Break Bible Study, Tuesday Night Connection, Christ Care Group, and the Cedar Hill Choir. She volunteered at the Corner Closet and the de Snoep Winkle Gift Shop. She is survived by her husband Paul H. De Blaey, her children Sharon Vander Weit and Pam Goemaat, both of Midland Park, and Tim De Blaey of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Bernard De Leeuw and her parents Bert and Ada De Leeuw. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Joseph “Joe” J. Devine of Franklin Lakes, formerly of Wayne, died Feb. 1. He was 91. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Before retiring in 1977, he was a tool inspector with Curtis Wright Corporation where he had worked since he was 15. He had been a member of the Totowa Elks Lodge and the Wayne Golden Age Circle. She is survived by her husband Andrew Ewing, her children Alexander and Nathaniel Ewing, her brother Robert Gutkowski of Wayne, and her aunts Madeline Schimpf of Clifton, and Katie Wagner of Orlando, Florida. He is survived by his children Laurie Leary of Dover, Delaware, Randy Hasslinger of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Darrell Hasslinger of Ramsey, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Florence Millington of Midland Park died Feb. 2. She was 93. Before retiring in 1980, she was a nurse at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. She was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity in Midland Park. She is survived by her children Joseph Millington of Montvale, and Jamie Rea Sanchez of Lincoln Park, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was employed with Hoffman La Roche/Johnson Controls for 37 years. He co-chaired, with his wife, the first Gold Award Girl Scout Troop in Midland Park. He was past president of the Midland Park Music Parents. He was a pioneer partner in the Verizon H.G. McCully Upstate Chapter 12, and a member of the Garden State Village Collectors Club. She and her husband were the owners of Jan’s Lollipop in Fair Lawn. She was a Holocaust survivor. She was a member of the Broward County Florida Chapter of Hadassah. Donald Ten Kate of Midland Park died Jan. 29. He was 79. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Before retiring in 1995, he was a truck driver with Farmland Dairy. He was a life member of the Midland Park Fire Department. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, his children Laurie Ten Kate and Kristen Amos, both of Midland Park, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and his siblings James and John Ten Kate and Janet Zimmerman. He was predeceased by his sons Donald Ten Kate and Paul Ten Kate. Arrangements were made by The Olthuis Funeral Home in Midland Park. He had been a banker with Chase Manhattan Bank in New York and National Community Bank. For the last 15 years, he was a specialized credit consultant. He was a volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 157 for many years, and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ridgewood. He served as an executive to the NYC United Way, and a member of the Utica, New York Rotary. He is survived by his wife Anna, his children William Jr. of Midland Park, Suzanne Wilkins Yu of Wilton, Connecticut, Jarrett Wilkins of Ringwood, Clifford Wilkins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and two grandchildren.
