February break is just around the corner and the Midland Park Recreation Department has planned multiple activities for children and their families. On Monday, Feb. 15, the Midland Park Alliance and the recreation department have teamed up to sponsor a day of free programs for students in grades three through six. Activities will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the DePhillips Community Center and will include a Total Performance session sponsored by Parisi Speed School, followed by a poster contest, pizza lunch, and a movie. Students should pre-register. The center will be open from 2:30 to 6 p.m. for students in grades seven through 12 for supervised activities including Guitar Hero tournaments, DDR, karaoke, ping pong, and basketball. The DePhillips Community Center will be open to students in grades five and six from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for supervised activities and pizza lunch on Tuesday, Feb. 16. The center will reopen from 2 to 6 p.m. to students in grades seven through 12 for supervised activities including Guitar Hero tournaments, DDR, karaoke,

ping pong, and basketball. Pizza will be available at $2 per slice. Students in grades four through eight may participate in a bus trip to the Oakland Holiday Lanes on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The cost for three games (including shoes) is $9. The bus will leave the DePhillips Community Center at 12:30 p.m. and return at 3:30 p.m. The DePhillips Community Center will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. to students in grades seven through 12 for supervised activities including three on three basketball tournaments, Guitar Hero, and ping pong. On Thursday, Feb. 18 the DePhillips Community Center will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. to students in grades seven through 12 for supervised activities, including ping pong tournaments, a Madden tournament, and pick up basketball games. Organized activities, movies, and McDonald’s lunch are planned for students in grades one through four in the DePhillips Community Center on Friday, Feb. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The center will be open from 2:30 to 6 p.m. to students in grades seven through 12 for Xbox60 tournaments, ping pong, and pick up basketball games. Recreation Family Night will return to the center on Friday, Feb. 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. The entire family is invited to enjoy dancing, a DJ, karaoke, ping pong, air hockey, board games, Rock Band, and Guitar Hero. High school students who are interested in assisting with programs to earn community service hours, may call (201) 652-2747. The center is open to the public year round Monday through Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Supervised activities include pickup basketball, ping pong, air hockey, and board games.
