Midland Park December 22, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 7 After 15 years as Midland Park Borough Administrator/ CFO and tax collector, Michelle Dugan leaves a legacy of creativity and fiscal restraint and efficiency that will serve the borough well in the years ahead. “Her skills, knowledge and leadership have shepherded us through difficult financial times, leaving us in good stead,” said Mayor Joseph Monahan last week during Dugan’s last council meeting. “What is equally important, if not more, is the way in which she has done so. She’s a woman of the highest integrity and honesty while working diligently, collaboratively and creatively to always find a better way- often a better way for less. Like the ‘little engine that could’, she’s been the conductor of Midland Park’s modestly sized train as it’s progressed along the tracks of balanced services and fiscal responsibility,” Monahan added. Under Dugan the borough followed a pay-as-you-go policy and is one of the few towns in the state with minimal bonded indebtedness. Dugan received a standing ovation and a jewelry box from the governing body. “Midland Park is a jewel of a town,” she quipped. Michelle Dugan retires as borough administrator/CFO Dugan said she will miss the relationships she has forged in the community. “I valued being a part of Midland Park’s professional team, making decisions and developing policy for the gain of the community. The borough’s collaborative work environment offered a high rate of mutual return, user friendly with a quality product of which to be proud,” she said. “Now that I and my investment have matured, I’ll take my profitable memories to my retirement.” Among those memories are a number of capital projects to maintain and enhance the town’s infrastructure, all completed with grant moneys she helped secure.
