CERT members complete training
Several members of the Wyckoff Community Emergency Response Team recently graduated from the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management’s CERT training program. Eighteen members and Wyckoff Emergency Management Coordinator Lt. David Murphy were present at the ceremony at the Law & Public Safety Institute in Mahwah. Wyckoff CERT consists of 35 volunteers. The program aims to use trained volunteers to assist with public safety activities. Members are actively involved in serving their communities to be better prepared to respond to and cope with the aftermath of a disaster. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with the nonemergency projects that help improve the safety of the community. For information about CERT membership, contact Lt. Murphy at the Wyckoff Police Department: (201) 891-2121 or LTMURPHY114@yahoo.com.
