Rooney will reportedly take a step up at the Jan. 1 reorganization meeting, when his peers on the Wyckoff Township Committee are expected to appoint him mayor for 2011. The five-member Wyckoff Township Committee selects a mayor from among its ranks at the end of each year. Informed sources indicate that this is Rooney’s year. Rooney, 50, has lived in Wyckoff with his wife Hayley for the past 21 years. He is a graduate of Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, where he and his wife have owned an equestrian business since 1992. They have four children: 21-year-old twins Victoria and Jordan, 18year-old Austin, and 16-year-old daughter Cassidy. Kevin J. Rooney A graduate of Ramapo College in Mahwah in 1980, Rooney is now a managing partner of HMS Global Holdings, a real estate development and management company headquartered in North Haledon. Rooney served on the Wyckoff Board of Adjustment from 1999 to 2009, and was once the chairman of that board. He is currently a township committee delegate to the Wyckoff Planning Board. He holds licenses as a tree expert and pesticide applicator in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut, and has been a licensed real estate agent since 1985.
