Suspended Ramapo High athletic director resigns
by Frank J. McMahon Todd Meyer, Ramapo High School’s athletic and student activities director, has resigned his position for retirement purposes. The Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education unanimously accepted his resignation at a public meeting last week. Meyer’s resignation will be effective Dec. 1. Meyer was recently suspended by Superintendent Lauren Schoen pending an investigation into allegations of misconduct. In early November, the Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education passed a resolution at a special executive meeting to continue Meyer’s suspension with pay while the allegations are further investigated. Schoen emphasized that the school board did not request Meyer’s resignation, and said that he had voluntarily submitted it prior to the school board meeting last week. No details concerning Meyer’s suspension have been released by the school district to provide any explanation for his suspension in response to the many rumors that have been circulating in the district and in the three communities it serves, including Franklin Lakes, Oakland, and Wyckoff. Former Ramapo High School football coach and athletic director Michael Miello, who was hired by the district to fill Meyer’s position during his suspension, will continue to fill the position as the acting athletic and student activities director at Ramapo High School at $400 per day. He is expected to remain in that position until the school board hires a permanent replacement for Meyers. Meyer had been the school’s athletic and student activities director since February 2002. The school district confirmed that his salary was $136,276 at the time of his resignation. Meyer is a 1981 graduate of Springfield College with
