Area December 1, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 19 James Azarian, a sixth grade student at Saddle River Day School, is in emergent need of a bone marrow transplant due to a recent diagnosis of a very rare form of leukemia. Azarian’s parents are currently seeking the help of local chambers of commerce and several other organizations to help find a donor match and provide James with the gift of life. Late last month, the Azarians’ pediatrician’s office, Bergen West Pediatric Center in Wyckoff, hosted a bone marrow drive for James. The goal was to get as many participants as possible to attend the bone marrow drive. Just one match can make the difference. The pediatrician’s office sponsored a Bone Marrow Team James asks: Could you be the match? Donor Registry Drive through the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation. Registration is quick and involves a simple, painless cheek swab. Eligible donors must be between the ages of 18 and 60 and in general good health, meet the guidelines, and be able to donate to any patient, anytime worldwide. Once a person is registered with the foundation, his or her information will remain in the registry until age 60, or until that person no longer wishes to participate. Local Toys for Tots collection set In the Swing in Waldwick is hosting a Toys for Tots collection at its 145 Hopper Avenue location. For each donated toy, the donor will receive four free admission tickets for one child during the month of January. New, unused, and unwrapped toys may be dropped off at the main office by Dec. 17.
