Wyckoff August 25, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 3 Water use, sidewalk dining still under consideration by John Koster The Wyckoff Township Committee is considering the introduction of two new ordinances, including a statemodel policy on water use, and permission to allow sidewalk dining. Brian Bigler, chairman of the Wyckoff Environmental Commission, appeared at last week’s work session and recommended the state-sanctioned ordinance be a model for a customized local ordinance. “It’s simply a model to follow,” Bigler said, indicating that the ordinance did not need to be adopted verbatim, but contained some useful concepts. The proposed ordinance encourages sensors on inground sprinkler systems which prevent the automatic timers from sprinkling lawns while it’s raining, and encourages a policy of lawn watering on odd/even days – the same policy now in effect through the Ridgewood Water Company, which supplies water to Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park, and Wyckoff. The odd/even system permits homeowners to water their lawns on odd days of the months if their properties have odd-numbered addresses, and on even days of the month if their properties have even-numbered addresses.
