Ryder’s fiction has appeared in literary journals. Her “Correction of Drift: a Novel in Stories,” about the Lindbergh baby kidnapping, was published by University of Alabama Press. Cooperstown team tryouts set Midland Park Baseball Association Cooperstown 2011 Tryouts will be held Saturday, Sept. 11 (at a time to be determined) at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Field on Dairy Street in Midland Park. Tryouts will be run by an outside evaluator. The cost will be divided among the attendees. To be eligible, players must not turn 13 years of age before April 30, 2011. Those players who make the team will be required to participate in the fundraising necessary to attend the Cooperstown tournament, along with what is required by the MPBA for the U12 travel team. Parents of prospective players may email midlandparkbaseball@gmail.com. They will be contacted with the tryout times and cost. Register for fall story time Registration for Fall Story Time at the Midland Park Memorial Library will be held Sept. 13 through 17 in the children’s room. Sign up for the following programs: Toddler Story Time will meet on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. from Sept. 22 through Oct. 20. Preschool Story Time will meet on Thursdays at 11:15 a.m. or 2 p.m. from Sept. 23 through Oct. 21. Children ages two through six years old are invited to join Ms. Courtney for stories, games, and crafts. All Story Times are developmentally appropriate and encourage children to interact with books and express their creativity through open-ended craft activities. Computer courses, duplicate bridge offered Seniors are invited to enroll in fall computer courses and duplicate bridge at the Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Center, 46-50 Center Street in Midland Park. The Computer Learning Center is offering courses in Beginner Computer, Navigating the Internet, E-mail, Highlighting, Copying and Pasting, and Microsoft Word 2007. The classes run for four to eight weeks and meet for 90-minute sessions. Duplicate bridge will be available to seniors on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. beginning Sept. 7. Family movie night set Midland Park Recreation will sponsor a free outdoor family movie night at Johnny Vander Meer Field, 50 Dairy Street, on Friday, Aug. 27. (Rain date will be the following day, Saturday, Aug. 28.) Movie night begins at 8:30 p.m. with music and a community slide show; the movie will begin at dusk. The snack bar will be open for the purchase of refreshments. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.
