Inspection fee
(continued from page 3) positive as to the exact wording. Some township committeemen said the waiver was limited to 20 percent, while others said it might have been flexible and ranged from no waiver to a percentage of the total inspection fee. “We need to look at what that was,” said Rooney. “I’m not in favor of waiving 20 percent right away.” Mayor Rudy Boonstra had pronounced the invocation at the sparsely attended meeting. A clergyman usually attends the meeting to offer a brief prayer after the pledge of allegiance. Boonstra concurred that the motion could be tabled for two weeks until everyone had a chance to examine the wording on the township committee’s agreement to see whether a partial waiver or full inspection fees would be more consonant with the township committee’s decision of some weeks before. The governing body’s commitment to saving money is reflected in its own waiver of members’ stipends last year and this year. Wyckoff has also negotiated a transfer of $302,000 in surplus funds from the Wyckoff Library Board, and is said to have the lowest ratio of municipal office employees to residents of any Bergen County community.
