Wyckoff
The Wyckoff Police Department has filed a juvenile complaint against a 16-year-old girl for filing a false police report. The teen claimed an individual had forcibly entered her home and sexually assaulted her, but the subsequent investigation did not support the juvenile’s charges. Police from Wyckoff and the surrounding towns and the Bergen County K-9 unit responded to the juvenile’s home and assisted in the investigation. The teen will appear in juvenile court. In a separate incident, police were summoned to a house on Woodbury Drive on Aug. 2 when an adult called the police and reported that his daughter was at an illegal teen drinking party. Police who responded found that about 20 youngsters had gathered in back of the home and that a large amount of alcohol was present. The homeowner’s 21-year-old son, who was hosting the party, was charged with making property available for underage persons to consume alcohol, and is scheduled to appear in municipal court. J. The 13 boys from the U12 Wyckoff Travel Baseball Team recently participated in the Cooperstown Dreams Park Tournament in Cooperstown, New York. It was the experience of a lifetime for the 13 “Little Major Leaguers” who played seven games over four days against teams from Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts., Illinois, California, and Nevada. The week began with opening ceremonies and skills competitions. The team members spent their days playing ball, trading pins, and getting to know other 12-year-old boys from the 104 teams that participated in the tournament. They also visited downtown Cooperstown, including the Baseball Hall of Fame. The team members and coaches acknowledge that this trip would not have been possible without the support of the local community. They thanked The Market Basket, Giovanni’s Italian Restaurant, Mayo Sportswear, Unimac Graphics, the Wyckoff Baseball Boosters, especially Gregg Pecoraro, and The Wyckoff Recreation Department, especially Recreation Director Andy Wingfield for their generosity and sup-

port. They also thanked the Wyckoff community at large for supporting team events, which included the Inaugural Fathers Day 9U Classic Baseball Tournament, the Car Wash, candy and drink sales, a Yankee ticket giveaway, and the Giovanni’s Restaurant fundraiser. The boys raised over 90 percent of the cost of their trip.
