New signs
(continued from page 5) but then someone would have to be available to unlock them in the morning. Councilwoman Nancy Peet asked who would patrol the courts when the lights are on later than 9 p.m. for football games in the fall. Pruiksma said that if the hours of operation are posted, coaches or parents can point to the signs and move people off the courts. Councilman Nick Papapietro suggested that once fencing that is all the same height is installed, the noise should be reduced. The borough is considering doing this project with county Open Space grant funds. The two outdoor courts were built last spring with a $92,000 grant from the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund matched with an equal amount from the borough’s own Open Space Trust Fund. They replaced an existing court which had fallen in disrepair over the years and thus saw little activity.
