Vendors sought for Valley benefit The Franklin Lakes Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary is seeking vendors for its Nov. 17 pre-holiday shopping/brunch extravaganza. Children’s craft program offered The Franklin Lakes Public Library is offering a sand craft to children in grades two through five on Tuesday, Aug 10 at 2 p.m. Participants will use colored art sand to make a keepsake or gift. Paws for Reading continues The Paws for Reading program at the Franklin Lakes Public Library will continue through the summer. Children are invited to read to one of the dogs for 10minute periods on Aug. 16 from 4 to 5 p.m. Registration is required. Children’s photography workshop set The Franklin Lakes Public Library will offer a photography workshop for children in grades four and up on Aug. 11. The program will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Attendees are required to bring a digital camera. Registration is required. Rubin offers autobiography workshop Registration is now open for the fall autobiography workshops, which will begin Sept. 21 at the Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes. Janice Rubin, award-winning journalist and author of “Looking Back, Moving On: Memoir as Prologue” and “Four Lives: Despite the Odds,” will lead two eight-week autobiography workshops. Residents who wish to pay their third quarter taxes now may call (201) 891-0048. Tax bills will be mailed during the first week of August. The grace period has been extended to Tuesday, Aug. 31. Payments received after Aug. 31 will have interest charged back to Aug. 1, as mandated by the State of New Jersey. The tax collection office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office will be open from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 23 and Aug. 30. Girl Scouts hold membership drive The Franklin Lakes Girl Scouts are now accepting registrations for 2010-11. Girls are invited to sign up as members of a Girl Scout troop, or as individual Girl Scouts. Along with troop activities, Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey offers many programs for girls of all ages. From visiting a local business to international travel, Girls Scouts has something to offer every girl. Financial assistance is available. Membership is open to all girls ages five through 17. He will have all of the responsibilities described in the borough code relating to the director of public safety position. He will be obligated to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. In addition to his salary as director of public safety, he will receive 10 vacation days, seven sick days, and two personal days per year. The term of this agreement is for one year, after which time the agreement will continue unless it is modified by both Conklin and the borough, or unless it is terminated by the borough.
