Wyckoff photos sought for calendar To celebrate Wyckoff’s unofficial status as “The Garden Town in the Garden State,” the team behind the township’s award-winning municipal calendar is seeking the participation of residents in creating the 2011 calendar. Residents of all ages are asked to contribute photos that show what their gardens look like – from flowers in bloom to ripening vegetables to the many “heritage” trees that adorn the community. The goal is to appreciate the natural beauty that characterizes Wyckoff. The calendar team’s goal is to present a complete picture of how the township’s gardens grow. Prints or CDs containing digital photos may be dropped off at town hall, 340 Franklin Avenue, Room 106 during regular business hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or mailed to Rocket Graphics, 35 Ruff Court, North Haledon, NJ 07508. (continued from page 4) The regulation pertaining to student conduct away from school grounds, especially regarding the use of drugs and alcohol, has been a controversial issue in the district since 2007 when a survey conducted by the district indicated that students were often experimenting with alcohol and drugs away from school grounds and the school board took the position that it was compelled to take action. Two of the eight trustees voted against the approval of the regulation, however, claiming that the board was overstepping its bounds and that the regulation would not work because the district is never informed of a student’s arrest by the police because most students are minors and police will not confirm an arrest of a minor.
