She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church in Ridgewood, where she was active with the Rosary Altar Society. She was a member of HILT in Ridgewood. She is survived by her children Beatrice Franchina, and Gabriel Juliano, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony. McGowan of Mahwah, formerly of Allendale, died April 10. He was 69. He was a publisher of a magazine in New York for many years. He is survived by his wife Lenore and his son Antony. He had been a gear cutter with Van Vlandereen Machine Company of Paterson for 26 years. After retirement, he was a crossing guard at Sommerville School in Ridgewood. He is survived by his wife Lois, his children Debra Bassett of West Milford and Scott of Ridgewood, three grandchildren, and his brother Freder- Pauline Juliano ick of Manchester. Ernest “Ernie” J. Pomroy Sr. of Ramsey died April 12. He was 90. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the National Guard for 12 years. He served for 10 years as the commandant of the Rockland County Marine Corps League. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW of Midland Park, and Monsey, New York. He served as grand marshal of the Midland Park Memorial Day parade in 2004. He was past president and member of the Model A Ford Club for 50 years. He is survived by his wife Virginia R. Pomroy (nee Colling), his children Ernest J. Pomroy Jr. of Pompton Lakes, Virginia R. Clyne of Sandy Hook, Connecticut, Patricia R. Mercer of Phillipsburg, and Debra S. He spearheaded the formation of New Jersey’s Certified Landscape Technician testing program, and consults for Vander Koi Associates. He is as an adjunct professor at Bergen Community College as is a member of the BCC Advisory Board. He is chairman of the Atlantic Stewardship Bank Development Board and gives back to the community by serving as Chairman of the Wyckoff Shade Tree Commission and as a member of the Wyckoff Board of Adjustment. Mark married his wife Heather in 1994 and they reside in Wyckoff with their three children. Tom and Mary Bugel moved to Wyckoff in 1968. In the early 1970s, they initiated the first “Save Spring Lake” Campaign. After a second campaign, they enjoyed the rebirth of Spring Lake and the Wyckoff YMCA. Soon after, Tom served on Wyckoff’s first Environmental Commission. In 1987, Tom and Mary helped form Wyckoff’s “Partners in Pride” (PIP), a committee of volunteers who landscape, plant pocket gardens and planters, and educate the public about keeping Wyckoff litter-free. Today, PIP is a vital program which encourages responsibility, volunteerism, and environmental awareness. The efforts of PIP brighten and beautify many areas of the township. The Bugels have two grown children and reside in Wyckoff. Scott Fisher has been the Wyckoff Public Works Manager since 1999 and is in his 22nd year of service to the township. He is responsible for a staff of 13 who maintain parks, playgrounds, public areas, roads, buildings, and facilities. His responsibilities include snow plowing, leaf collection, and posting regulatory signs.
