He is survived by his children Frank Anelante Jr., Richard Anelante, Tina Anelante, and Susan Zitolo, and his sister Ann Lamagna of Flushing, Queens. He was predeceased by his wife Marguerite T. Rektenwald, nee Nebus, of Wyckoff, formerly of South Amboy, died March 29. She was 83. She was a homemaker. She was a former member of Saint Mary’s R.C. Church in South Amboy. She had been employed by Cutis Wright Aeronautical Corp. and as a credit supervisor for TRW Credit Bureau. She was a parishioner of Saint Brendan’s RC Church in Clifton. She is survived by her children Carol Ann Dulkis of Mahwah, Vincent Sausa of Glen Rock and Robert Sausa of Milford, Michigan, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Before retiring in 1981, he had been employed as a quality control inspector for Ford Motors of Mahwah for 23 years. He was a parishioner of Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Clifton. He is survived by his wife Milica (nee Lukashchuk), and his children Helen Slabodukh, and Katherine Rosikiewicz. Arrangements were made by Lakeview Memorial Home in Clifton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He had been a sales representative for hydraulic and pneumatic products and built his own companies in Los Angeles and New Jersey. He was a member of the Saddle River Valley Club and had served as environmental commissioner of Saddle Frank Anelante Sr. River from 2000-08. He is survived by his wife Carole (nee Weber) of Saddle River, his son David Shea of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, two grandchildren, and his brother David P. Shea of Florida. She was a speech pathologist and audiologist. She was a partner in Inter-Communication Services/Earlab. She had been chief of speech pathology at Valley Hospital. She had served on advisory councils for the New Jersey Departments of Health and Higher Education, and the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners Committee for Hearing Aid Dispensers. She was president of the New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association (1984-85), and was honored by that organization in 1986 for landmark changes instituted during her presidency. She is survived by her husband Jerry, her children Richard, and Kate, two grandchildren, and her siblings, Robert, Gary, and Geraldine Orr. Joanne L. Van Lenten of Hawthorne, formerly of Wyckoff, died March 26. She was 63. She had been a reference librarian of the Louis Bay II Community Library in Hawthorne for 25 years. She had previously worked as a hematologist for Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York. She was a member of the Madison Avenue Christian Reformed Church in Paterson where she was an elder, member of the Judah Choir, taught the women’s Bible Study Group, coordinated the homeless shelter program, and served on the board of ECUMP. She was a founding member of the Dawn Treader Christian School. She was a member of the Brownstone Quilter Group in the Greater Passaic-Bergen County area. She is survived by her hus- Immacolata Torrano band David John Van Lenten, her son Michael David Van Lenten of Hawthorne, four grandchildren, her mother Rachel Smith of North Haledon, and her sister Elaine Hoekstra of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Religious Notes Temple Beth Rishon will host its 8th Annual Mitzvah Day Walk on Sunday, May 16 in support of Autism Speaks, the nation’s leading autism non-profit scientific research and advocacy organization and Reed Academy, a school for children on the autism spectrum, aged three through 21. The community is invited to join congregants to help raise funds and spread awareness on behalf of those individuals and families who are challenged by autism. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the temple. The two mile walk, which will take place around the temple’s residential neighborhood, will start at 9:30 a.m. Dogs on leash are welcome. Walkers are asked to bring their own water bottles which can be filled with spring water at the temple. Participants are invited afterwards for a “cool down” brunch. I would like to remind the public that the school budget vote will be held on April 20. Many of us are dissatisfied with the drastic cuts imposed by the governor and subsequently by our BOE. However, if you vote “no” on the budget, more programs and/or staff could be cut. Please express your dissatisfaction with educational funding by contacting your local representatives -- not by voting “no” on the budget. The teachers and staff of Midland Park have worked hard and our BOE has been frugal with our money. Please vote “yes” to pass the budget on April 20…for the children of Midland Park.
