Band hosts Fall Festival Ramsey High School’s “Big Blue” Marching Band and Color Guard will host the Fall Festival of Bands, a home competition, on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 1:45 to 6 p.m. at the Ramsey High School football field. Twelve award-winning bands from the tri-state area will compete, with a final exhibition by the Ramsey Band and Guard. Tickets may be purchased at the gate. Hot food, beverages, and baked goods will be available throughout the event. Band Spiritwear will be sold, and there will be a special fundraiser. Proceeds from the event help fund the Marching Band and Guard program at Ramsey High School. Charity Golf Tournament set The Ramsey Knights of Columbus will hold its Annual Charity Golf Outing on Friday, Oct. 2 at the Wallkill Golf Club, in Wallkill, New York. The $130 entry fee includes 18 holes of golf and golf cart, breakfast, lunch, dinner and open bar, longest drive, closest to the pin, and hole-inone prizes, and other prizes. lecting supplies for Marine First Lieutenant Chris Wilson’s 1/5 Battalion and Bravo Company stationed in Afghanistan. The following items are needed: Pop Tarts; toothbrushes and toothpaste, small and medium; disposable razors; cookies, homemade or store-bought, but nothing that will melt in the hot sun; hard candy mints; Lifesavers; powdered drinks, including Gatorade and lemonade; and small pads of paper and pens. Redeemer announces events The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Ramsey will celebrate the Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. on the front lawn of the church, weather permitting. Everyone is invited to come and bring their pets for a brief service of lessons, hymns, and prayers at 55 Wyckoff Avenue in Ramsey. The Rev. Dr. Carol Brighton offers a blessing for each pet present and prayers for those who care for animals. The service will offer prayers of thanksgiving and comfort for those who lost a pet this year. The church welcomes all people to its services and programs. The church building is handicapped accessible, and large print materials and aids for those who are hearing impaired are provided. Freemasons host Open House The Freemasons of New Jersey are opening the doors to the public on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Square and Compass Day. The Masons of Ramsey will
be joining in this historic event. The public is invited to find out who the Freemasons are, how to join, what members do, and what the inside of a Lodgeroom looks like. Military Bridge Night offered The Woman’s Club of Ramsey will host a Military Bridge Night on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Masonic Lodge located at the corner of North Franklin Turnpike and Lake Street in Ramsey. Admission includes special fundraisers, beverages, soft drinks, coffee, snacks, and desserts, and prizes for highest and lowest scores. Military Bridge is a card game in which participates rotate from table to table for each hand, trying to capture opponents’ flags. No experience is necessary. Club

Ladies Night Out planned The Ramsey Education Foundation is hosting its Tenth Annual Ladies Night Out at the Woodcliff Lake Hilton on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. The evening will include casual dining: cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a special performance by the Ramsey High School Jazz Band. There will be over 100 great baskets filed with prizes, treasures, and special fundraisers. All of the proceeds from this event support Ramsey children’s education with enrichment programs at all five public schools. The cost is $65 per person, and there will be a cash bar.
