Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • September 16, 2009 Patrolman Adam Szelag was traveling on Myrtle Avenue at 2:43 a.m. on Aug. 16 when he observed another vehicle being driven with an equipment violation. A motor vehicle stop was conducted. Based on the officer’s observations, the driver was requested to exit the vehicle. At the conclusion of field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated. While at headquarters, a New York State Parole warrant was located for the 47year-old West New York, New Jersey man. He was held pending extradition. On Aug. 18 at 1:45 a.m., Patrolman Jeff Guilfoyle was dispatched to North Central Avenue to investigate a report of a motor vehicle that crashed into a fence. While speaking to the driver, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. The driver, a 31year-old Ramsey woman, was unable to perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. At 10:24 p.m. on Aug. 27, a police radio alert was broadcast to the Ramsey Police Department reporting an erratic driver on Route 17 North. The vehicle had struck another vehicle while driving. Patrolman KC Hines observed the described vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop. While speaking to the driver, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. At the conclusion of field sobriety tests, the 40-year-old Mahwah woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Additional charges for drug possession were also filed.
