Blood Drive planned The Ramsey Masonic Lodge, 24 North Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey, is sponsoring a Blood Drive on Tuesday,
Sept. 22 between 3 and 8 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment to donate, or to discuss medical eligibility, call 1-800-933-BLOOD (2566). Qualified donors should be at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds, and be in generally good health. Donors must present a photo or signed ID and know their Social Security number. Donors over 75 years of age can also keep donating with their physician’s note. Club seeks new members On Sept. 22, the Woman’s Club of Ramsey will host a social event in a member’s home as a means of recruiting new members. The Woman’s Club of Ramsey has a 100-year tradition of raising contributions for area organizations. The club participates in Ramsey Day; aids the local library, fire department, and ambulance corps; provides awards to local students; hosts the annual Heirloom Tomato Sale; and sends care packages to U.S. troops. Amish adventure planned The Leisure Club has planned an overnight trip to the Amishlands of Pennsylvania on Nov. 18 and 19. The featured event will be the American Music Theater’s 2009 Christmas Show. The package will include bus transportation, lodging at the Fulton Steamboat Inn, breakfast at the hotel, lunch at Cracker Barrel, and a family style dinner at Miller’s Restaurant. There will be visits to QVC Studios, the Pretzel Factory, Intercourse Canning Company, and a stop at Kitchen Kettle Village. For reservations and costs, call Connie at (201) 327-4170. Open Mic evenings planned Ramsey Fine Arts Council will host an Open Mic at the Borders Cafe at the Interstate Shopping Center in Ramsey. Upcoming dates are Sept. 26 and Oct. 24. Open Mic is hosted by Zeke Carey and Friends and is a free night of music and entertainment. Musicians, poets, and comedians are welcome to perform. The music begins at 7:30 p.m.; sign up at 7 p.m. The Fine Arts Council meets on the first Tuesday of the
month in the Ramsey Municipal Building on North Central Avenue. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. and are open to the public. PBA sells fundraiser tickets Tickets for the annual Ramsey Policemen’s Benevolent Association fundraiser are on sale now. Last year’s winner was a lifelong Ramsey resident who received $10,000. The 2009 winner will be announced at the Home for the Holidays Celebration on Dec. 5. The $20 tickets sold out quickly last year. Tickets are available from Ramsey PBA members. Yearly PTO membership is $10 per family. Seniors plan activities The first bus trip of the season will be a visit to Ellis Island on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The itinerary includes a ferry to the island and admission ticket. Participants may visit the museum, visit the Wall of Honor, and view a movie. Participants should pack a picnic lunch or may dine in the cafeteria. There will be a considerable amount of walking involved. Signup has begun. The price is $33.75; checks should be made payable to Ramsey Seniors.
