GREENleaders program accredits local professional
Susan Tenny, C.I.D., award winning designer and owner of INTERIORS by Decorating Den serving Ramsey and Mahwah is now a GREENleader Accredited Professional(AP). Tenny has completed the six-unit GREENleaders program covering a wide range of topics pertinent to the home furnishings industry and sustainability, such as environmental issues, sourcing green products, and designing green and environmentally friendly interiors. As the home furnishings industry’s most comprehensive training program, the GREENleaders certified sustainability training provides manufacturers, representatives, retailers, and designers with the knowledge and credentials to differentiate themselves as experts in sustainability. The GREENleaders program was developed in conjunction with the Sustainable Furnishings Council, a professional non-profit coalition of suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and designers formed to promote sustainable practices within the industry. The SFC is considered the leading organization in green home furnishings with the best opportunities for education and networking. To date, nearly 100 manufacturers, retailers, and interior designers have enrolled in the GREENleaders certification program, with many more on the way. This industry first exam course was created by a LEED-AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and vetted by the Sustainable Furnishings Council board, including ranking staff of World Wildlife Fund, Rainforest Alliance, and one of the two co-founders of USGBC/LEED. Teaching garden ready for students
Chris James Landscaping has donated a three-man, garden-enhancement crew to rejuvenate Ridge School’s courtyard-teaching garden to its original glory. CJL donated the labor, which included extensive hand pruning of ornamentals and perennials. The crew also removed debris and mulched all of the gardens. Parents have donated money to cover the cost of the mulch and mums, which CJL provided at cost. The landscaper was asked to donate services by one of his Ridgewood clients. “It was a pleasure helping out,” said James. “We had an excellent canvas to work with; it just needed a lot of TLC. We hope the students and faculty enjoy the garden this fall.” For additional information, contact Chris James Landscaping at (201) 670-9000, e-mail info@cjlands.com, or visit www.chrisjameslandscaping.com
Ramsey Rescue Squad
(continued from page 10) Emergency Management Agency, will be distributed after a brief orientation. “Ramsey Day is a fun-filled family day,” commented Ramsey Rescue Squad Chief Jonathan Krehel, “And in that spirit, the four-page children’s edition and the 10-page adult edition offer excellent common sense tips on what to do in an emergency.” On Saturday, Sept. 19, the rescue squad will provide traffic support for the Annual Jack McKeown 5K and 10K runs, which will begin and end at the Ramsey Municipal Pool. Emergency care will be provided to any runner who has a medical problem during the course of either run.
