percent of the prevailing federal poverty guideline, and have no health insurance of any kind. Patients will be seen by appointment. The BVMI Healthcare Center, based on a model of care developed by Volunteers in Medicine, is the 74th such center in the nation and the fourth in New Jersey. A core medical and administrative staff will be supported by volunteer physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, other health care professionals, and community volunteers in a variety of roles. BVMI is totally dependent on contributed income. The continued generosity of individuals and community organizations has made the healthcare center a reality and will make possible its long-term success. Grants from The Bolger Foundation, The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, The Armellino Family Foundation, Lynn Diamond,
and other family foundations provided key funds to launch the center. Construction of the site, leased from the Bergen County Community Action Partnership, Inc., was largely funded by a Community Development Block Grant and a CDBGRecovery (federal stimulus) grant from the Division of Community Development, County of Bergen. For more information, visit the BVMI website at www. bvmi.org or call (201) 342-2478. A Cocktail Reception to celebrate the opening of the BVMI Healthcare Center and to honor founder Samuel A.
