ward-winning decorator Susan Tenny, C.I.D., is the owner of Decorating Den Interiors, serving Ramsey and Mahwah. Susan provides a complete in-home interior decorating service, bringing thousands of samples of drapery fabrics, shades and blinds, furniture and upholstery, carpeting, area rugs, wall coverings, bedding, lighting and accessories directly to her clients. “Working this way is not only a great convenience for my clients, but it’s also very important that we see things in their lighting and in the context of their existing furnishings.” Susan addresses the client’s lifestyle, taste, functional needs, and budget. “My clients enjoy working with an experienced decorator, rather than running from store to store selecting things piecemeal with the aid of only a salesperson. “We don’t charge design fees or hourly rates, and I pride myself on my ability to work within my clients’ budget. By taking careful measurements and making floor plans we avoid expensive mistakes. We custom design the room for function, comfort, beauty, cohesiveness, and flow. We handle all the details of ordering and scheduling, and supervise the installation and delivery. Susan Tenny, C.I.D. “Unlike a store, we have no inventory or loyalty to a particular manufacturer. We put our clients needs first as we make our choices from hundreds of vendors.” As a Green Leader Accredited Professional certified by the Sustainable Furnishings Council, Susan can help her clients incorporate beautiful and affordable eco-friendly furnishings into their homes. Susan is happy to help with any size project. It could be just one window, a room “freshen-up,” or an entire room/house makeover. iane Bollen, owner of Dragonfly Studio, is known for her artistic wedding photographs and portraits that stand out from traditional shots because she watches her subjects carefully to catch the moment between the moments. She explains, “There is a lot of joy there. At a wedding, you can see the love and extreme happiness in those moments. I want people to remember the joy, not just poses!” Diane enjoys working with people, joking with them, and encouraging them to have fun. Her studio is fully mobile, so she is able to photograph families in their own homes, which is particularly helpful for parents of very young children. During the month of October, Diane is offering family photo sessions, which she calls “Playing in the Leaves.” As the family members interact with each other, Diane captures their love and enjoyment in her photojournalistic style that captures spontaneity and fun. It seems Diane was destined to become a professional photographer. When she was 10 Diane Bollen years old, she received a camera as a gift from her father. She experimented with it, and continued to devote time to her hobby through high school and beyond. Diane has paired her interest in forensic science with photography to produce a reference work for veterinarians. She has also worked on aerial and satellite photography, and notably participated in the Mars Rover Mission. Diane perfected her portrait work by taking photos of her son and daughter. Her membership in the Professional Photographer of America allows Diane access to many resources and continuing education. Diane encourages anyone who is celebrating a milestone to meet with her, view samples of her work, and spend time speaking with her. Chantilly Lace unique boutique
special someone. Located in a stately Colonial home with vaulted ceilings, mahogany trim and fireplace, Chantilly Lace was created by a woman for women, and was named after The Big Bopper’s hit song. Chantilly Lace offers fine lingerie by top designers, peignoir sets for brides, bras, panties, pantyhose and stockings for every day. Although she is a registered dental hygienist, owner Joan Martucci opted to build her business around her love for fine Joan Martucci lingerie – from flannel to silk. Joan opened her store in Ridgewood in 1987, but saw the opportunity to expand and to offer ample parking at the Wyckoff location, where she has operated since 1991. Over the years, styles and product lines may have changed, but Joan’s loyal customers have been returning for two and three generations. “I go out of my way to meet customers’ needs.” Joan says. “If I don’t have a particular item, I will try to get it.” Personalized service and the nopressure atmosphere make Chantilly Lace a great place to shop. Joan has provided bra and mastectomy fittings – free of charge – for 22 years. “This really is my forté,” she says, adding that she provides an honest, accurate evaluation of what products best fit each customer’s needs. While she already has a large selection, Joan is planning to expand her lines of bras and panties to better service her customers. A wide range of sizes and styles are available, from petite to plus, and special orders are welcome. Ask Joan about specialty items, such as adhesive bras, which provide proper support in tandem with backless or strapless dresses, as well as the Brabag and Panty Pak uniquely designed for travelling and exclusive to her boutique.
