Luba Lander of Cosmetic Vein Center, LLC: Personalized, expert skin care
hile living in Russia, aesthetician Luba Lander began working in the skin care industry. When she came to the U.S., she acquired her degree as a certified, licensed aesthetician at Capri Institute in Paramus. After working as a skin specialist and makeup artist for major department stores, she felt there was neither enough emphasis on personal contact nor freedom to sell the products in which she believed. The more Luba became educated about products, the more she wanted the freedom to suggest the best products for each individual. Luba currently works with clients at Cosmetic Vein Center, offering relaxing and regenerative facials, microdermabraLuba Lander sion, and chemical peels. “Skin of any age or condition can greatly benefit from these treatments. Microdermabrasion can help teens control acne, and can help many other conditions of the skin,” Luba says. “I have stateof-the-art equipment and use all-natural ingredients. For instance, I only use sodium bicarbonate with my microdermabrasion equipment, whereas other spas use aluminum oxide crystals that can be extremely irritating. Other services I provide are body waxing (including Brazilian bikini), and eyelash and eyebrow tinting and design. I am also a licensed laser technician in NY.” She adds, “We carry many high quality products for the skin, but I am especially proud to offer advanced Cosmoceutical products. These contain medical grade ingredients and are carefully prescribed. We also offer a wide variety of natural, organic products.” Cosmetic Vein Center’s board-certified physicians expertly treat disorders of the veins, including varicose and spider veins with state-of-the art laser techniques. Botox, Juvederm, and laser hair removal are also available. Located in Ridgewood, Cosmetic Vein Center is open Monday through Saturday by appointment only. Mia Anderson of Heal from Within
fter experiencing the restorative power of body energy work in 1998, Mia Anderson, a veteran of 30 years of teaching, knew she was about to embark on a new career. “It was so dramatic for me that I said, ‘I have to do this,’” she said, recalling how acupressure provided her with lasting relief after 14 years of chronic neck pain. An acupressure session involves a practitioner working around a fully clothed, reclining client. The practitioner makes a circuit around the client, applying gentle pressure at about 50 acupressure points. Mia explained that acupressure provides lasting benefits and relaxation because the process works from the inside on many levels, including physical, mental, and emotional. “There are various networks within the human body, and the energy system, which includes pathways, or meridians, can become blocked for various reaMia Anderson sons,” she said. Acupressure restores energy flow, and clients might experience that restoration through involuntary laughing, crying, or yawning during an acupressure session. Many clients fall asleep. Clients report improvements in health conditions that range from allergies and stress/anxiety to fatigue and back pain. Mia was trained in IGM® Therapeutic Acupressure by founder of the modality Isabell Gatto and earned her certification in 2001. Learning from lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, Mia mastered acupressure. She is now one of the IGM® instructional staff and is practicing at her own business, Heal from Within, located at Main Street and South Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey. Sessions are by appointment only. Call (201) 310-8616. Additional information is also available online at mia-acupressure.com.
