Ramsey October 7, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 9 Late last month, members of the Ramsey Police Department, Vernon Police Department, and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Squad executed search warrant at the Glenwood home of a man who is suspected of having sent harassing e-mail messages and destroying sensitive information. The Glenwood man’s home computer was seized, and he was placed under arrest. The matter has been referred to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. The arrest followed an Aug. 18 call, in which the Ramsey Police Department responded to Interstate Waste Management Service at 500 North Franklin Turnpike to investigate harassing e-mails that were being sent by an ex-employee. Police also learned that there had been destruction of sensitive information from an off-site company’s database. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the ex-employee was able to access his boss’ e-mail address from his home computer, and delivered harassing e-mails to several of Waste Management’s employees. During the course of the investigation, the suspect, who was recently terminated from his employment, was able to access Waste Management’s Driver Management Online database. The DMO database contained sensitive company Law enforcement officers seize suspect’s computer driver information and medical records. The DMO database was hosted by an off-site independent computer consultant service. The suspect was able to the DMO database and delete the files. Along with the assistance of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crime Squad and using grand jury subpoenas, it was determined that the Internet protocol address that was used to send out the harassing e-mails and enter the DMO database, were registered to the suspect. The man has been charged with three counts of harassment, a disorderly persons offense; one count of wrongful impersonation, a fourth degree crime; and one count of computer theft, a second degree crime. He was released on his own recognizance and due to appear in Ramsey Municipal Court late last week. Investigating officers included Jacqueline Morris, Sergeant Robert Novakowski, and members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Squad.
